This year’s Halloween costumes majorly picked influence from movie stars and series.
Being one who’s not so very good at following themes when it comes to events, it is only right that I give credit where it due.
With spooky season being upon us, the Garden City Rooftop offered the perfect backdrop for fashion to meet music, games and connections; a tradition that’ so synonymous with Jameson connect-con events, this particular one having been Jameson and Friends.
At the clock of 4Pm, revelers had begun thronging the venue clad in their Halloween costumes, and below are some of the most outstanding eye-turning outfits from the event. The rankings are based on this editor’s first look and impression. Read on:
1. The Joker
Inspired by The Joker, multi-talented sound engineer and producer Professor Joewi recreated the popular DC Comics character (that’s played by Arthur Fleck) look for Halloween. He paired a crazy make up, with green hair and a perfect suite to complete the look.
2. Robin hood
The blockbuster that features heroic outlaw Robin Hood, was the inspiration for Ali Alibhai, Talent Africa CEO’s Halloween look was inspired by the legendary heroic outlaw. To complete it, was Alibhai’s signature dark shades.
3. Tinker Bell
Everyone’s favorite fairy is a classic costume that can be duplicated with green wings, a mini dress, and a little bit of pixie dust. And this is exactly what the reveler in spot 3 did with her costume; giving off a super natural charm. You love to see it.
4. Money Heist
Riveting Spanish Netflix hit series “Money Hesit” (also known as La Casa de Papel) that captured the attention of many has inspired some costume ideas this year. To make their costumes complete, the five girls in the look added white masks to it.
5. Ghost Town Cowgirl
Flaunting a hauntingly stylish white dress and red cap, Adele Kiele for her Halloween look came as a Ghost Town Cow girl. Pairing it with a pair of boots and shimmering black make up to pull off a shimmering glow in the dark.
Asides attendees channeling characters from hit franchises as reflected in their Halloween costumes, while at Jameson and Friends over the weekend (October 26), got to engage in fun games ranging from board games (chess, ludo etc) to playing cards as provided by Qweshunga.
Music was another major highlight as revelers got to indulge into fascinating mega music mixes by Sal Deejay, DJ Kasbaby, DJ Cross and DJ Tony. There was an exciting live music performance by the fast rising Yoh Kuki, and delivering the special fever was Kohen Jaycee who treated us the day one fans to his magnanimously popular tracks “No Letting Go” those from his WENA II EP and a few from his freshly released debut body of work “Rwebembera”.
Halloween (Hallowe’en) as a celebration is observed in many countries every October 31; the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. This dates back to the 8th century when the day was set aside to in an attempt to get away from pagan rituals as November 1 is one that’s recognized as a day of honoring all those who had died. It was believed that on that day, the souls of the dead returned to their homes, so people dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off spirits.
