Meet Milly Nassolo: A Champion For A Brighter Future For Children & Women In Uganda

Date:

In a land where dreams of a better life, healthcare, education, and success are cherished by countless girls and teenage mothers, there shines a beacon of hope named Milly Nassolo. A 30-year-old legal professional and the Director for Legal and Women Affairs at Maisha Holistic Africa Foundation, Milly is leaving an indelible mark on the lives of vulnerable children and women.

Milly embarked on her journey in advocacy and social work with a simple yet powerful dream: to serve those from high-risk families, including orphans, abused children, and the abandoned. She recognized the formidable obstacles these individuals face in pursuing their dreams.

In 2015, Milly founded the Maisha Holistic Africa Foundation with a mission to make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable groups, aligning perfectly with her role as an advocate for children and women.

Milly’s foundation primarily operates in Kagadi district, where she saw a unique opportunity to effectively serve the community. She collaborates with local leaders, spiritual figures, educational institutions, and healthcare professionals to offer essential services to those in need.

One significant initiative of the foundation is educating girls about menstruation and teenage pregnancies. Milly and her team visit schools and communities, conducting awareness programs to equip young girls with knowledge and tools to make informed decisions.

The foundation is deeply rooted in a Biblical and Christian foundation, believing that faith can be a source of strength in addressing the world’s health, social, economic, and spiritual challenges. Services provided include counseling for teenagers, teenage mothers, and women on issues like human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

Funding for the organization comes from various sources, including professional legal work, farming, and the support of friends and well-wishers, both within Uganda and abroad.

Challenges and Triumphs:

Milly and her foundation face substantial challenges, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The increased rates of teenage pregnancies and school dropouts during the pandemic have amplified the need for resources to support education and empowerment programs.

Despite these challenges, Milly’s determination and the foundation’s impact are undeniable. She has empowered over 1000 young women through activism and awareness on issues that make them vulnerable. Additionally, the foundation has made education accessible to hundreds of young women and established Maisha Kindergarten and Primary School, providing education to 400 children from vulnerable poor families.

Milly Nassolo is a true champion for children and women in Uganda, tirelessly working to enhance their lives and create a brighter future for all. Her dedication, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to her cause make her an inspiring figure in the fight for a more just and equal society.
