Scheduled for a Thursday release, Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinfenwa more known as Joeboy shared perks of his debut album yesterday.
The much-awaited body of work is titled ‘Somewhere Between Beauty and Madness’ (SBBM) as he first announced last month.
Taking to his social media, Joe shared the artwork for the project, which showcased a total of 14 tracks including “Lonely “, “Consent “, “Count Me Out” “Oshe “, “Oh “, “Sugar Mama “, “Police “, “Better Thing “, “Runaway” and “Celebration “, among others. Interestingly, the singer didn’t feature any artiste on the project. It’s a solo effort.
While revealing the track list on his social media platform, the 23-year-old singer said creating records that are life-changing is one of the greatest gifts to humanity. “I present to you my Debut album ‘Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic’ #SBBM It’s beautiful,” he wrote. “Being able to create records that are life-changing is one of the greatest gifts to humanity; I’ve lived in the music to a point where I found myself immersed in all of its rhythms – YL 2021”, the singer wrote, accompanying the post with a photo of the track list.

The forthcoming body of work saw work with producers like Dera, Type A, BeatsbyKO, MOG, Big Fish, Tempoe, Mex Flairz, E Kelly, Killertunes and Semzy while the entire album was mixed by Oxygen Mix, and mastered by E Kelly, Oxygen Mix, and Air.
Joeboy had hinted at the release of an album in October 2020 when he released the single, ‘Lonely’. The single which was dropped on October 9, 2020, came with the announcement that the debut album was set to be released later that month.
In an interview with Audiomack, he said, the debut album “sounds like a beauty. It sounds like magic. It is an exciting album. It has a lot of smash hits on it. It’s different when it comes to singles. With singles, you have to do it in a particular way, but when you have a body of work, you can try different things. I think this album will showcase my versatility to a large extent”.
The album will be released under Mr. Eazi’s Banku Music imprint and his next-gen music venture, emPawa Africa.
Born in 1997 in Lagos, Joeboy made his music incursion under the platform of ‘Empawa Africa’, a record label owned by Mr Eazi, a singer who discovered him in 2017. His genre of music is Afro-pop and R&B.
After his 2018 single ‘Faaji’, Joeboy’s subsequent song ‘Baby’ of 2019 became a hit track and did massive numbers on streaming platforms. The visualizer music video for the single also surpassed 31 million views on YouTube, hence further thrusting him into the limelight.
In November 2019, Joeboy went ahead to put out his debut extended play ‘Love & Light’, wherein he featured Mayorkun.
