Oluwa Burna Boy is no stranger to trending. He has once again been at the center of the talk on the bird app, not just in Nigeria but Uganda as well.
This follows the “African Giant” who recently celebrated his 31st Birthday opening up about his track “Last Last”.
While appearing in an interview, the “Ye” singer revealed that his latest single which samples American RnB star Toni Braxton’s 2000 R&B hit “He Wasn’t Man Enough”, Toni earns 60% of the royalties from the single in royalties, whereas his label Atlantic Records takes 30% and him the remaining10%.

He further defended this decision saying he is all good and fine with the arrangement as his only concern is making a great song.
With just a few days left till the Nigerian Afrofusion artist Damini Ogulu who’s christened as Burna Boy’s incoming album “Love, Damini”, he while speaking on it told Billboard in an interview that this is his most personal album:
“The title of the LP is particularly personal to him. “That’s how I like to sign all my letters because I didn’t know the proper [signoff],” he said. It’s a bit personal [because] it’s bringing you into my head on my birthday — when you turn 31 and ain’t got no kids, everything is going good and bad at the same time. You reflect and then you get as lit as possible. Then you sleep and wake up and reflect again. I’m reflecting on everything — what I’m doing and what’s happening where I’m from. Where I’m from is a part of where I’m going.”
Burna Boy as a singer has been famous for his sampling of sounds of legends he admires such as Fela Kuti, and I wish to reaffirm that the Toni Braxton just like any other arrangement does not affect his success as a digital earning artist since a huge part of his live shows like his most recent New York Madison Square Garden sold show account for a huge part of his earning. And with a catalogue and statesmanship that has helped him to sell out arenas across Europe, Burna Boy wouldn’t mind giving up a good part of his streaming pay if it means making great singles.
His Mid-tempo Vibey Chopsticks produced “Last Last” in which he reflects on past relationships before ultimately concluding everything will be okay (Now you get why Burna says this album is so personal to him) is currently enjoying international acclaim and topping and so is the whole LP which is due July 8th.
The follow-up LP to “Twice As Tall”, the new album is expected to house 19 tracks, with appearances from friends Ed Sheeran, Popcaan, Victony, J. Hus, among others.
