As the days gearing up to the release to their joint EP “MIRACLES” continues to draw to a close, celebrated Ugandan singer, songwriter Alexander Bagonza also professionally known as A Pass and frequent collaborator Kaboo have today dropped “Buwooma”.

Translating to “It’s sweet”, “Buwooma” is a playful yet heartfelt joint effort between  A Pass and Swiss producer  Kaboo. The track celebrates the sweetness of life, love, and everyday joy.

“Buwooma” captures the essence of everyday and a reminder that even when life gets tough (“yadde bukaluba nga Bugonda”, “even when it gets hard like Buganda”), there’s still beauty, laughter, and love to hold onto.

The lyrics revolve around Dola, a woman whose charm and presence captivate the singer completely, described with A Pass’ signature humor and vivid imagery. His playful verses paint funny, relatable pictures of being dazzled, tempted, and joyfully overwhelmed, all delivered with a lighthearted tone that makes the listener smile.

To bring “Buwooma” to life, Kaboo draws inspiration from the golden era of 70s and 80s Ugandan pop, reimagining its nostalgic rhythms and melodies through modern production. The result? A warm, groove-driven sound that feels both timeless and refreshing, the kind of track that resonates with young audiences and older generations alike.

The visuals for “Buwooma” do justice to the audio, as they feature a sample of am olden clip from Uganda of back in the day. Additionally, big credits to whoever did the styling for the music video. From the outfits, to the retro afro hairstyle which were such a catch and a thing in the 70s. Speaking of culture, the video features local/ folk dances of traditional dances from Buganda, Acholi, Kadodi from the Bagisu tribe,  Busoga’s essentric dance and the deep smooth kitaguro from Ankole. Props like gourds of local brew and also references to “Umqombothi” (a locally brewed beer from back in the day) also play a key nostalgic element.

Kaboo and the “Mariana” singer are no strangers to working together. Off their upcoming collaborative EP “MIRACLES”, already singles “Camera”, “Soldier”, “Pressure” featuring Cali P are already out, and now “Buwooma”. Project drops April 10. Do look out for that. For now, enjoy “Buwooma” and let me know what you think about it.
