And it’s another one in the bag for Agather Atuhaire.

The list that’s been shared this evening features 100 individuals who exemplify innovation, courage, and commitment, spanning sectors such as politics, entertainment, sports, and technology.

Her inclusion in the 2024 TIME100 Next list not only spotlights her as a key figure in human rights advocacy but also highlights the diverse array of emerging leaders who are making significant contributions across various fields.

Being recognized on the TIME100 Next list serves as a powerful reminder of the diverse talents and perspectives shaping the future. As Agather Atuhaire continues to champion human rights in Uganda, her achievements resonate with the broader mission of the list: to highlight those who are not only making waves in their fields but are also committed to creating a more equitable and just world. In a time when challenges are many, these emerging leaders offer hope and inspiration for what is possible when individuals dare to dream and act.

The 36 year old Ugandan lawyer, human rights defender and freelance journalist shared the good news of her recognition with her over 60,000 followers on X (formerly known as Twitter) writing:

Moving on swiftly. In the realm of entertainment, luminaries like Shonda Rhimes and Olivia Rodrigo have lent their voices to rising stars such as Nicola Coughlan and Laufey. These artists are not only captivating audiences with their talents but are also using their platforms to advocate for change, showcasing how storytelling can inspire social movements and challenge societal norms. Their presence on the list reflects the transformative power of art in shaping public discourse and culture.

The sports world is also well-represented, with figures like C.J. Stroud and Jannik Sinner capturing attention for their achievements and leadership both on and off the field. These athletes symbolize the growing recognition of sports as a platform for social change. Their involvement highlights how young athletes are increasingly engaging with issues such as mental health, equity, and climate action, demonstrating that their influence extends far beyond the playing arena.

Political figures like Governors Wes Moore and Andy Beshear are also part of the 2024 list, underscoring the importance of effective leadership in governance. Their inclusion illustrates a shift toward a more inclusive political landscape where diverse voices are leading efforts to address pressing societal challenges. These leaders are not only shaping policy but also inspiring a new generation of civic engagement, reinforcing the idea that governance can be a vehicle for positive change.

The business and technology sectors are represented by innovators like Nik Storonsky and Tim Latimer, who are at the forefront of creating sustainable solutions in a rapidly changing world. Their entrepreneurial spirit reflects a growing recognition of the need for responsible and inclusive business practices, particularly in the face of climate change and technological advancement. This commitment to sustainability is vital as the global community seeks to balance economic growth with environmental stewardship.

Finally, advocates for climate action and sustainable solutions, such as Monique Jeffs and Marine Tondelier, emphasize the urgency of addressing environmental challenges. Their work resonates deeply with young activists who are increasingly aware of the impact of climate change on future generations. Their inclusion on the list signals a collective acknowledgment that environmental issues are integral to discussions about justice and equity.

Congratulations Agather Atuhaire and all those that made the list. Your contributions to society are highly appreciated. 🫶🏼🫵🏾
