Last night was not only a special one, but rather a full circle moment where it all came together, the music, love, and dance. I’m talking about A Pass’ fully blown highly successful first concert.
You know how they keep saying, good things take time, but great things take a lifetime. So was the case as the immensely talented singer, song writer and record producer Alexander Bagonza (A Pass) held his much anticipated show yesterday at the Prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel.
What had been the ask of many fans and lovers of good Ugandan music came to fruition, when the “Wuuyo” singer announced the news that he would be holding his first ever concert in January 2025.

Attendees thronged the venue and were gathered outside the Kampala Serena Hotel as early as 3PM to secure a spot as close to the Game Over/ Iam A Pass Records Super star as possible.
The singer’s three-hour performance brought together many fans to enjoy the most lucrative set of concerts in history. Making a grand entrance onto the stage at a quarter past 9PM, A Pass opened the show with ‘MIDNIGHT DRUM’, a song that he guest featured on alongside Rouge and Fik Fameica produced by DJ Maphorisa.

Asides his show stopping performance, another feature that struck the fans of all ages who had attended the concert was A Pass’ elegant fashion picks. From his catchy denim, to all black and then all white fits. Now back to the music. A Pass while joined with highly skillful and smooth move bending choreographers/ dancers opened his electrifying live music performance with “Tuli Kubigere”, a song that put him on the map as well as set the tone for the new sound of Ugandan music.

He further proved to the already bubbling crowd with excitement that he indeed is the Greatest of all Time (GOAT) by following it up with “Sida Mukyalo”. Just as he had finished this particular track, the concert got graced by musician turned politician H.E Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu) attracting a cheerful uproar from the crowd.
A Pass then took us back in time with “Oruso’, one of the many mega classics he dished out when he dropped his debut album “Nva Kampala”. Being that we were being treated to a bit of this and a bit of that musically, A Pass then performed “Eh”, a song lifted from his latest self titled body of work “A PASS”. In not so long from there, he pumped the crowd by singing the titular track to the LP “Bagonza”. Indeed he kicked the show’s energy to the dance side by performing “Gamululu”, which is yet another fan favorite. Before he could take a brief breather, A Pass was joined by Lilian Mbabazi and they treated us to afro-zouk excellence with a beautiful performance of “Memories”. While A P was off stage, Lilian stepped into the spotlight and during her jam session sang for attendees “Vitamin”, another song that brings great nostalgia to not just fans but her as well whenever she performs it.
Di Teacher (A Pass)’ set list took a rather mellow turn when he returned to the stage, this time performing his most sensual yet intimate and more slowed down tracks; “Nkwagala”, “True Story”, “Olumba”, “Am Loving”, his widely acclaimed socially conscious single “Abantu”, and for the very first time ever – “Like a Uber” and “What People Do”. Sticking to the plan of him giving the people their money’s worth as he promised, A Pass brought his second and final guest of the night on stage, Likkle Bangi, with whom they performed their joint effort “My Lover”.

Remember how I mentioned that A Pass’ fashion stole the show? Well, it wasn’t the only thing that got praise. Even prior the show, Fenon Events’ stellar stage set up and lighting had already won the hearts of many, further setting the agenda that the A Pass Live in Concert event was going to be one for the books. The sleek and crystal-clear sound at the concert too was the talk on everyone’s lips. To bring his vision to fruition, A Pass collaborated with Kaboo and Baru who executed this sound thing to perfection.

Prominent instrumentalist Myko Ouma backed A Pass by skillfully plucking his guitar, to offer a perfect compliment to the band, marking the 3rd segment of the concert open. This set featured triple dose of songs, ‘Mariana”, “Give Me a Kiss”, and “Omunakyalo”.
After what felt like a dream concert for fans, A Pass then performed “Addicted”, “Wamu” and “Pele”. He then appreciated his parents for letting him follow his dream of pursuing music and for supporting him with love. “Mummy”, “Didadada”, “Chupa Ku Chupa”, and “Turn Up The Vibe” were the songs that steered the set to an end. A Pass then thanked the fans for the love, for the partners (MTN MoMo, Fenon Events, I&M Bank, among others) and his team for believing in him and ensuring his very concert was a memorable one.
