With performances from Wonder JR, Mark Mick; topped with majors by Ckay & Oxlade, it’s safe to say; the event was worth the wallet damage for the tickets!
Africa’s Boyfriend christened singer-songwriter and performer Ckay is going hard on running a victory lap for the promo of his latest studio album ‘Sad Romance’ and Kampala, Uganda was his latest stop at ‘Party in the Park’.
Taking command of Kampala’s Lugogo Grounds, the Aemo-afrobeat starlet dazzled with sparkling showings of hits; opening with “Kiss Me Like You Miss Me”, ‘Emiliana’, “dtf”, “WATAWI”, “La La”, and then “Love Nwantiti (ahh ahh)”, among others.
Before Ckay could take to the stage were notable earlier performances by Lukas Blacc, Akeine, CXNRVD, Rickman Manrick, Denesi, Joshua Baraka, who equally set the tone for the show; not leaving out Deejays Vanss, Alza, DJ Vee and Chapat who kept revelers on their dancing shoes and raving.
Performing as a co-headliner was Oxlade (or Oxy) as he’s known to many; and his appearance comes after the singer committing to putting on a great show while speaking at the event’s presser that day; saying he knew he owed Ugandans one; following two previously missed performances.
He hoped onto the stage as it was approaching half past midnight with one of his newest records “Bad Boy” on which he features “Mayorkun”, later “02 (Oxygen)”, Ice Prince assisted “KOLO”, then “Want You”. He sent attendees in a frenzy of excitement with his tear-soaked smash hit “Ojjuju”; and then a double performance of “KU LO SA”; a song that’s been a fan favorite since its release back then in June.
Among the exciting activities other musical performances were a 360 camera experience and Rodeo Bull Rides.
Party in the Park was organized by East Meets West, in conjunction with House of DJs, Radiocity 97FM, Safeboda, Travel Neza, Chama Nation, among others.
