Bongo Flava artist who also doubles as the WCB label boss – Nasseb Abdul Juma, aka Diamond Platnumz has set another bar in East Africa after he became the first-ever Tanzanian artist to perform at the Grammys Global Spin digital series.
Aired late night on February 7, on Grammy’s Recording Academy Official YouTube Channel, the singer performed his new song ‘Gidi’ alongside the band and beautiful models delivering a vocal-heavy and chilled-out performance.
With Diamond’s latest performance, he is not only the first Tanzanian artist to have achieved this feat, but also the first East African artiste to have this honor.
The Grammy’s Global Spin, a performance series was launched in October 2021 spotlighting artists from around the world. Each episode of Global Spin features a performance from a notable artist or group and will celebrate both the creators and their home countries.
The series are aired bi-weekly on Tuesdays at 4:00 PM on the Recording Academy’s official YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Global Spin aims to keep fans of the international music community plugged into one of the most exciting lanes in all of music while spotlighting global music and international artists, and East Africa was lucky to have Platnumz as its first representative.
The Recording Academy is the world’s leading society of musical professionals and is dedicated to celebrating, honoring, and sustaining music’s past, present, and future.
As reported by Pulse Kenya, World Music Manager at Grammy Awards Marlon Fuentes promised that the WCB President would be part of its Recording Academy to represent the sound and culture from East Africa. Fast forward to 2022 it has happened.
At the time, Fuentes acknowledged Platnumz as an incredible act who is always giving his best whenever on stage.
He also saluted the singer for hitting the studio with legendary producer Swizz Beatz and his wife Alicia Keys upon his touchdown in Los Angeles, USA back in 2020.
In 2020 again, Diamond and his two signees Rayvanny and Zuchu made it to the Grammy Awards consideration list. The Grammy Award, or just Grammy, is considered one of the four major annual American entertainment awards, along with the Academy Awards (film), the Emmy Awards (television), and the Tony Awards (theater and Broadway).
Despite never receiving a Grammy nomination, with this featured performance the doors might be open for him to represent the country in upcoming 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
