Disney Serves Up Trailer For “Moana 2”. Take a Look

Date:

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical “Moana 2” reunites Moana (voice of Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.

The sequel to Disney’s celebrated 2016 animated is set to arrive on the big screens in theatres November 27.

From the first look at the lengthier trailer that was shared earlier this week, we get to see Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers work together to break a curse put on Oceania in the sequel.

First released in 2016, the animated hit is taking audiences on an expansive new voyage in the Dave Derrick Jr. and Dana Ledoux Miller directed film. Starring Auli’i Cravalho as the voice of our titular hero, and Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) as Demi-God Maui, Rachel House (Moana’s Grandma, Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father, Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother, Sina), “Moana” made $680 million at the box office and has racked up well over a billion hours streamed on Disney+.

Set for a Thanksgiving Week release, the sequel is to see Moana continue the portrayal of her dreaded underworld goddess, following an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. She is therefore to journey to the far unknown seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. She therefore joins forces with Maui to battle creatures led by Matangi. There’s also a feisty addition to the film, Simea (played by Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda), Moana’s little sister. So asides being the heroine of her clan, she’s a big sister too.

For its soundtrack, Auli’i Cravalho is once again taking on the roll and will be lending her voice as a musician, singing the animation’s background track; We’re Back.

The first full Moana 2 trailer was released in early August. A full-length Disney feature was originally planned as a Disney Plus series due to pandemic limitations keeping people out of theaters, but has since been reworked into a film. A live-action version of the first Moana film is additionally scheduled for release in 2026.

Moana 2 will be releasing in theatres in late November on the 27 this 2024. Will you be watching?
