Four Years Later, Joeboy Set To Perform In Kampala

Date:

LaVida Boy is coming!

Akifenwa Joseph, better known as Joeboy, is set to make a highly anticipated return to Kampala, Uganda, the heart of East Africa’s vibrant party scene. The 26-year-old singer, songwriter, and performer will be making his second major appearance since his debut in 2019 at the inaugural Malembe Block Party, hosted by Malembe Lifestyle at the Guvnor Parking Lot in the Industrial Area. During that event, the “Body & Soul” hitmaker co-headlined with UK boy group WSTRN.

Back in 2019, Joeboy had already captured the audience’s attention with his hit single “Baby”. Since then, he has released a series of successful tracks, including the 2021 afro-piano hit “Alcohol (Sip)” and “Nobody,” a collaboration with DJ Neptune and Mr Eazi, his former label boss.

Fans in Uganda have eagerly awaited Joeboy’s return, a desire that was recently fulfilled when he announced on social media that he would be performing in Uganda. This announcement follows his departure from emPawa Africa, a record label he joined in 2016, and the launch of his own music imprint, Young Legend.

Joeboy’s performance in Kampala is being organized by Nduguz Culture, a rising events company that recently had success with the Mics of Kayihura show at Club Guvnor on May 24, headlined by Rwandan artist Mike Kayihura. The “Adenuga” singer is set to perform live at the Lavida Rave on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Lugogo Hockey Grounds.

In terms of collaborations with Ugandan artists, Joeboy teamed up with Fik Fameica in 2019 on “Wansakata” and more recently on the remix of Joshua Baraka’s hit single “NANA” alongside Bien and King Promise. Joeboy’s discography includes two EPs, “Love & Light” and “Body, Soul & Spirit,” as well as the albums “Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic” and his latest LP “Body & Soul.”

While details about the opening acts and DJ lineup for the Lavida Rave are still under wraps, fans can expect an exceptional experience from Nduguz Culture, filled with bliss, chills, and incredible vibes. Early bird tickets are available on Rave for UGX 70,000 until June 30, after which they will cost UGX 100,000. Secure your tickets now.
