Nearly 3 months and a few days after Khalid and Disclosure released their epic collaboration “Know Your Worth,” the trio return with the remix to it; an electro RnB ear-worm that talks about finding and staying with the right person that loves you and makes you feel like a real deal, staying positive and refusing to settle for someone who doesn’t value your emotional investment in the relationship. It also talks about finding someone that makes you happy when you are with them.
The remix comes after a strong stream of singles from Khalid such as “Eleven” and “Up All Night”, following 2019’s critically acclaimed Free Spirit album. The pop amazing original was released on the 4th of February,2020 and then just yesterday 23rd a remix arrived.
The American singer-songwriter this time featured Nigerian Afrobeats artists Davido and fast rising star TEMS. Each of the rising superstars does possess their own signature blends of R&B and soul paired with undeniable influences from their native country (Nigeria). TEMS is an alternative RnB singer best known for her smash hit single: “Try Me”.
Structure: The remix opens with Khalid’s swooning vocals over layered percussion. The rhythmic rework of the song breathes new energy into the already positive track. Atlanta-born, Nigerian-raised singer Davido comes in after just one minute of the song, delivering lyrics. Nigerian RnB crooner Tems arrives shortly after, using her stand-out voice to echo a similar message. The new “Know Your Worth” remix was produced by P2J with reworked drums and a splash of backing guitar. The update to “Know Your Worth” does deliver a textured production which retains the laid-back feel of the original while fusing elements with fusion of Afrobeats and influences on it hence making it an equally vibrant offering.
All in all, the three minute eleven second play time track sees Khalid lending his RnB to the Afrobeat genre.
Just this week, Khalid was announced as the youngest artiste signed to RCA Records to surpass 15 Billion streams on online on-demand music streaming service; Spotify.
Over time; Davido as an artist has worked with various international acts such as Russ, Clean Bandit, Jay Sean, Summer Walker, Meek Mill and now Khalid.
