Offering a powerful glimpse into one of Uganda’s most anticipated films set for release in 2026, Swangz Films has unveiled the first look trailer for its upcoming feature Marriage Diary.
The trailer first had a soft premier months ago at Roast and Rhyme. My spotlighting it arrives at a moment when Swangz Avenue is from a triumphant week that saw its artists dominate Spotify Wrapped Uganda 2025 and so are celebrating its major wins across music and film.

Directed by Benon Mugumbya in his feature film debut and produced by Rukiss Salameda , Marriage Diary explores the quiet tensions and unspoken realities of modern marriage.
The narrative leans heavily on commanding performances from stars former Obsessions member, A-list actress and media personality Cleopatra Koheirwe embodying Sylvia, a woman grappling with the slow disintegration of her marriage and Michael Wawuyo Jr. as Jacob, a man buckling under the weight of a cancer diagnosis and crushing debt, a dangerous cocktail that pushes him into alcohol as his emotional world unravels. The film is also additionally supported by notable appearances from Viboyo, and Simon Base Kalema.
Shot by cinematographer Enoch Kawesi Katingole, the film leans into intimate visuals and restrained storytelling to capture the emotional weight of its characters’ journey. At the heart of the story is the couple’s young daughter, Talia, whose presence grounds the film in the often-overlooked impact of marital conflict on children.
Cleopatra Koheirwe is no stranger to the big screens as she has previously acted in “Prestige”, “The Last King of Scotland”, “Kyaddala”, among other movies. Following his big screen debut in Loukman Ali’s 2020 hit film “The Girl in the Yellow Jumper”, Michael Wawuyo Jr. who took after his father Ugandan actor and special effects artist Michael Wawuyo Sr has since become a fan favorite to watch. He’s gone on to star in “Sixteen Rounds”, “The Blind Date’ and now Marriage Dairy.

Whether this film, just like the past Swangz Films Productions will sit on the Swangz Avenue YouTube channel like the case was with “TAAMA” and “ROLEX”, or it will have a whole full blown cinema premier, we only have to wait and let time do its thing, tell. Unfold.
Marriage Diary is brought to life through the collaboration of KEZ Filmz, Swangz Avenue, Grip and Sparks Uganda, and Rosettes Boutique Hotel.
With its official release slated for 2026, this first look sets the tone for what might be one of next year’s most talked-about Ugandan dramas. Until then, here’s your first look at the trailer…
