Speaking at the presser, the talented soulful singer revealed that she used to sing for her family out of passion at home and that it was while being part of Tusker Project Fame in 2008 that she discovered she write, compose and sing” –

Asha Naava Zziwa Grey also popularly known as Naava Grey furthered that she released her first single “Nteredde” in 2011 with the support of Fenon Records, and now that she is marking 14 years in the music industry, it is more than an honor to have them on board, as she also gives backs to her fans for the love they have poured on her for the past years.

“Thankfully, Steve Jean (the Fenon Records CEO) got me an opportunity, which allowed me to record “Nteredde”. I recall sharing the song with a friend who was well-established in the industry. While he said it was good, he didn’t believe it would succeed”, remarked Naava Grey at the presser.

The “Ninga Omuloge” entered a distribution and Publishing deal with Sony Music and this propelled her track “Sokalami” to greater heights. She also revealed that as part of their arrangement, they would also connect her to artists whom she would write songs for and she would get paid, and that she was never signed by the music company but rather were partners.

On her faith, Naava Grey requested that the presser be started with an Opening Prayer. In her remarks, she went on to reveal that her faith has been a strong building block in her career, remarking: “I’m grateful to God. I can’t explain this journey in detail, but it was because of God that I started this career, so I give Him all the glory.”  Naava further detailed that before she wrote “Nteredde”, she prayed two Rakas (Muslim prayers), and that’s how she got the inspiration to pen her very first song, which would go on to launch her career. She additionally shares that she prays five times a day and to her this is very beautiful, furthering that she would not be able to write lyrics if it were not for God for it is always him who gives her what to sing about. “I remember when I was given to write the “Nteredde” track, I found it hard at first wondering if I would be able to pull it off but I told God I wanted to be original because everyone has their identity,” stressed Naava.

Her fellow artist rallied support for her for her show. Among them being her “Owuwo” collaborator Kenneth Mugabi expressing his excitement for Naava Grey’s show and how he can’t wait you all to join in celebrating this special day (February 14th) of her career at her concert.

In a similar vein, Bruno K added to Kenneth’s call by inviting all who have never experienced a Naava grey live performance to make sure the only place they are at, come February 14th is the Kampala Serena Hotel for Naava Grey’s concert, for it’ not only going to be epic but also present Naava’s artistry like never before.
