“Wanna believe, wanna believe, that you don’t have a bad bone in your body,” Halsey sings. “But the bruises on your ego make you go wild,” Halsey sings over Marshmello’s euphoric production. On the chorus, she questions, “I don’t know why you hide from the one/and close your eyes to the one/Mess up and lie to the one that you love/When you know that you can cry to the one/Always confide in the one/You can be kind to the one that you love.”
Halsey and EDM star Marshmello have released their new collaboration, ‘Be Kind’. On the track, Halsey offers her support to a loved one who’s struggling.
The sultry uplifting electronic pop track also explores trust issues and reinforces that it’s OK to be vulnerable with someone you love.
The ‘without me‘ singer and the anonymous DJ teased their collaboration with a visual animated cover art of a swaying daisy (flower) on their socials this week, and now they’ve finally dropped the track.
“Be Kind” marks the pair’s first collaboration together, and comes more than three months after Halsey released her third studio album, Manic. The pop star who’s no stranger to teaming up with smash EDM producers first broke out on the Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’ way back in 2016, and recently released a pair of ‘You Should Be Sad’ remixes by Tiësto and Mike Mago in March.
Meanwhile, Marshmello dropped a couple singles of his own earlier this year, including “Been Thru This Before” with Southside featuring Giggs and Saint JHN. Marshmello released his third album Joytime III last July and teamed up with a diverse array of artists, including Kane Brown and Yunblud, for several standalone singles. He’s also been leading his own efforts during self-isolation, launching his ‘Mello After Dark’ live-stream series that saw him play an hour and a half of house hits, with over 500,000 thousand fans tuning in.
“As soon as we finished the song, I was instantly obsessed!” says Marshmello. “Halsey and I connected and were both on the same page with what we wanted the final outcome to be! And it turned out great.”
“Be Kind” plays for a duration of only 2 minutes and 53 seconds and was produced by Marshmello and Gian Stone and the vocals were obviously Halsey’s.
Along with dropping the new single, the pair unveiled the song’s lyric video, which features bright animation to go along with the uplifting sentiments and builds on the initial floral visual both artists teased of the song and the final product which you can watch below:

Halsey also teamed up with Orange International Inc. to donate 100,000 facemasks to four California medical facilities. Halsey added that she was “in awe of the medical workers on the frontlines”.
It is no coincidence the “Be Kind” song actually came out today, because today 1st May also happens to be World Global Love Day; a day that was set for the world to come together in the wisdom of peace and love. The Global Love Day is all about giving love to yourself and spreading it out into the world. So, take off today to #BeKind.
Also, did you know that when you make a tweet and add the words “BeKindXX”, “HalseyBeKind” or “MelloBeKind” phrases, the “BeKind” Twemoji appears next to that statement.
