The door that marked the end of the phenomenal multitalented 28 year old’s time on live radio as a presenter on 97 FM Radiocity, also marked his entry into the new murky waters of events management.

Sammy Gideon Wetala’s life and career is a true testament to “if you can dream it, you can make it”. Having switched from his Bachelors in Law, Sammy opted to take up acting classes. This leap of faith of the tide landed when he scored a role in “Sipi” in 2016 which he nailed so well eventually attracting even more acting stints in TV dramas like “Kyadala, It’s Real” in the year 2019 and eventually his latest “Juniors Drama Club” in 2021.
As mentioned Sammy is a “small man” with a bag of talents. Asides acting, he is a story teller, script writer, playwright, director, and television host of NTV the Beat which airs weekdays on NTV Uganda. The charming young star was formerly the host of the Mid- Morning Magazine on 97FM Radiocity. On there he not only got to interview international and global musical hotshots, but also establish himself as a force to reckon with in the face of entertainment in Africa. He has also executed artist PR and marketing roles for musicians like Pryce Teeba and others.
With the experience and skill set garnered, he would go on to do the ground work in regard to preparing and pitching proposals. All efforts have yielded fruit and he’s most recently ventured into events management. Did I mention, he is also an MC (both lifestyle and corporate events) and brand influencer for Smirn Off, among others.
He worked behind the scenes with the team that put together “Flavors of Gabzy”, an event that was organized by Airbeat Uganda last year on November 24 in the UMA Showgrounds Parking. The ambivalent Sammy additionally offered support when Eastern Vibes was organizing Davido’s TIMELESS KAMPALA concert at Kololo Independence Grounds, by hosting the media activation/ launch of the concert as well as assembling the digital influencers’ team to ensure its success.
Against a well sketched canvas, given his background and grooming, Sammy Wetala together with a few friends and partners in May 2025 launched events management imprint “Nduguz Culture”. This was through leveraging on already existing partnerships and industry mate, and on the 24th of that very month held their inaugural event; Mics of KLA, an up close event that was headlined by Rwandan talent Mike Kayihura. This went down at Club Guvnor.
This offered learning points for the team, and therefore “cooked” once again, and brought us yet another exciting event; the ‘Lavida Rave’ in July, and this was headlined by Joeboy. The event mesmerized revelers yet again and left many asking for more by the close of the show.
With the momentum and confidence gained now, Sammy Wetala and the team and Nduguz Culture are organizing the upcoming “Spice Takeover with Kranium” as headlined by Kemar Donaldson (who is otherwise known to us as Kranium). This is scheduled for November 1 and will take place at the Lugogo Hockey Grounds. Get tickets to it here.
When asked what fuels him to do what he does, Sammy will give you a heartfelt smile and tell you, “We do this for the Culture”. On a deeper level, he will tell you that he has a desire to celebrate live music and give people an up-close and intimate experience with their favorite artistes, hence the birth of Nduguz Culture and this drives the headliner and opening act curation for their events.
With this passion and drive to innovate, the sky can only be the limit for the entertainment trailblazer Sammy Wetala. Don’t be shocked if some day we wake up, and he’s dropped an EP or even album.
