Yes, salary week is knocking, and here is some plot to get your August kicked off in pomp and style.

Tucked away on Plot 14, Lower Kololo Terrace, Pan-Asian gem Tamarai Restaurant’s now cult-favorite Sunday Roast is set to return this Sunday, 2nd August 2026.

With a program running from 1 PM to 7 PM, leading the entertainment lineup is Lynda Ddane, who will be on the decks delivering an exhilarating DJ set, alongside Lysha and the Band, who will serenade guests with live music throughout the afternoon.

Entry comes in at UGX 120,000 per adult and UGX 50,000 per child. If you’re the type who rolls deep with the squad, here’s a tip: book a table for six and Tamarai throws in a complimentary bottle of wine. If you and your people had a catch-up pending, consider this your sign. The Sunday Roast is back to provide the perfect excuse and atmosphere to finally make it happen.

Patrons can expect free-flowing drinks alongside the spread, so come thirsty just as much as you come hungry, and settle in for an afternoon of great food, live music, and even better company.

Now, for the uninitiated, a Sunday Roast is traditionally a British and Irish affair; think roasted meats, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, gravy, and all the trimmings. It’s a proper Sunday institution. But Tamarai has taken that familiar concept and given it a distinctly Ugandan spin. Instead of simply recreating tradition, the restaurant blends bold local flavours with Pan-Asian influences to create something that feels uniquely its own. Muchomo, from pork and chicken to goat, comfortably shares the table with dishes you’d never expect to find at a traditional British roast.

If the crowd from the last edition is anything to go by, this is not an event you want to sleep on. The place was packed, and it wasn’t hard to understand why once you got a look at what was on offer.

The star of the show for many, myself included, has to be the live work station, where you get to build your own stir-fry from scratch using fresh ingredients cooked right before your eyes. I’d describe it as interactive, theatrical, and somehow even more satisfying once you take that first bite.

And Tamarai doesn’t stop there. There’s a live omelette station made to order, fresh pasta prepared exactly how you like it, sushi for those feeling a little adventurous, and a generous barbecue selection that quickly becomes one of the busiest corners of the afternoon. Add in rich curries, fresh salads, fragrant rice dishes, desserts that are almost impossible to say no to, and you’ll quickly realize the hardest part of the experience isn’t deciding what to eat, it’s deciding what to leave out.

Speaking of Tamarai’s space itself, it doesn’t disappoint. It’s spacious and welcoming, with a bar serving an extensive selection of teas, smoothies, juices, sodas, cocktails, and other drinks to suit the mood. The music sits comfortably in the background, making it easy to enjoy a proper conversation across the table, while secure parking takes one more thing off your mind. Just a heads-up though, it’s a smoke-free venue.

All this is to say, if the last Sunday Roast was anything to go by, this August edition is shaping up to be one you won’t want to miss. Grab your appetite, gather your people, and come do Sunday right.
