There’s been speculation when it comes to the TECNO Camon 16 series’ arrival on the Ugandan market, succeeding the Camon 15 Series that was launched ending of June, 2020. Over the past few weeks, there’s been mixed feelings of excitement and question about when the follow up series to the former would be. Having launched in Nigeria, Kenya last week, and in India two days ago (12th October), we can now confirm that Uganda is next in line.

The upcoming Camon 16 series was announced last week, in a post that was put up on the Official TECNO Mobile Facebook page and it indicated that there were 5 days till the unveiling of the Camon 16 series. The next couple of days were dedicated to welcoming pre-orders from the public ahead of the launch. Pre-orders were open to all, and all one had to do was walk into any TECNO Mobile outlet around Kampala and all pre-selected outlets all over the country and pay UGX. 50,000 for booking; to which they would be offered a receipt as evidence of payment plus a FREE pair of TECNO original HIPOD(S) earphones as a bonus gift. The pre-order ran till the 10th of October.

Notably, the Camon 16 series has already been formally rumored to be available early September but distribution was delayed due to the global pandemic. Well, the wait is over. Today, TECNO and MTN have once again joined efforts in strengthening their partnership by premiering the Camon 16 series, in an event held at the Kampala Serena Hotel earlier today. The collaboration between TECNO and MTN looks to giving more to customers with this sleek smartphone that is packaged along with free 3GB MTN Mobile internet every month for three months. In addition to this, customers do get back 100% bonus on all bundles they activate for 90 days on the MTN SIM used in the Camon 16 they purchase.

The Helio G70-powered smartphone also has a feature called Super Night Shot, which is powered by TAIVOS (TECNO AI Vision Optimization Solution); which is an image processing and enhancement lab for the Camon series that filters the image noise and optimizes the photo and video quality. The 64MP Ultimate clear photography, 48MP Super clear portrait selfie supported by new camera technology.

The front panel of the Camon 16 is built around a tall 6.9″ display of Full HD Dot-in screen Display with 90Hz refresh rate resolution. ‘t has a hole in the top-left corner for the 48MP selfie camera Dual Front Camera (Ultra-Wide-Angle Selfie Camera), which comes with Super Night Shot, 2K video recording and Video Bokeh. and a pill-shaped punch hole for the dual selfie cameras (48 MP main + 8 MP ultrawide). It is an LCD, meaning the fingerprint scanner made its way on the side, under the power key (side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the top left corner of the screen) to enable customers to unlock their phone in a more convenient and comfortable manner. This was also for a better visual sense of the whole design.
