Yesterday, Tecno Mobile added to its ever growing smartphone portfolio with the unveiling of the TECNO Camon 50 Series.
At the well attended launch event held at in Skyz Hotel (Naguru), influencers, the media and tech experts not only got to witness the mastery that has been packaged with the device but left with a testimony that indeed this is TECNO’s most sleek, and amazing smartphone series yet.

Packaged with exquisite features that range from a 3× telephoto camera, to wireless file exchange, an AI Health Assistant, curved 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, a 32MP front-facing camera and an under-display optical fingerprint scanner, among other incredible features, the TECNO Camon 50 Series has been released in two distinct versions; that is the Camon 50 and the TECNO Camon 50 Premier.
Speaking at the event, in her brief remarks, Laura X the Global Marketing Manager of TECNO, Laura thanked their partners Market by MoMo, Carlcare, Mogo and Jumia who have in the past and commit to enabling customers purchase and continue delivering TECNO smartphones to them, hence strengthening the smartphone manufacturer’s position in the market.
Bruce Dickson Ahabyona the TECNO Mobile Uganda Product Consultant opened his presentation by re-echoling that the TECNO CAMON picks its name from a combination of two words; Camera On. He gave this history because, just like its predecessors, the TECNO Camon 50 has been designed with capabilities of the users to enjoy extraordinary zooming. Among the most exciting offerings of this series is the 3X Super Zoom Flash snap capabilities can enable users to take pictures of bodies in motion, and in high quality. In addition to that users can do underwater photography with it.
For the past one and half years or so, TECNO has been so intentional about employing/ making AI a part of its ecosystem. The TECNO Camon 50 doesn’t fall short of this vision as it comes with an AI voice assistant (Ella Voice Assistant), an AI Art Gallery, an AI Image-to-Video Generator among others.
The biggest worry for heavy phone users is always the battery and its durability, and these two latest models have addressed this worry once and for all with a 6,150mAh battery that has a durability of up to 5 years; while being able to function and be in use for up to 48 hours until the next charge. They come with 45W wired charging as well.
Each of these new TECNO Camon 50 devices are powered by MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate, come paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage ensuring smooth performance and ample space. On the rear, the two phones share a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide sensor, though the Camon 50 Pro sets itself apart with an additional 50MP telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom.
Both phones boot HiOS 16 based on Android 16 (receives up to 3 major Android upgrades). The company’s Product Consultant stressed that the phone can withstand drops and are water-immersible up to 2m for 30 min. The devices come with seamless wireless file exchange technology as well as a Kilometer-Level Freelink for use in low network areas.
One feature that was placed more emphasis on was the company’s AI, Ella. “Tecno AI is so easy because it’s here to improve your productivity and also enhance your creativity,” said Bruce. “Rather than relying on third-party apps, the phone integrates AI capabilities directly into the experience, making advanced features accessible to everyday users and creators.”
At the center of this ecosystem is Ella Voice Assistant, TECNO’s in-house AI assistant. Ella is designed to be constantly available, helping users manage daily tasks such as scheduling appointments, setting flight reminders, and handling general voice commands. The embedment of AI across multiple functions of the Camon series is aimed at delivering a seamless, hands-free smartphone experience that adapts to users’ routines.
The TECNO Camon 50 series is available in colors; Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Galaxy Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Mint Cream. In regard to pricing, the TECNO Camon 50 is priced at UGX1,090,000, while the Camon 50 Pro starts at UGX1,190,000. Both models can be bought at the manufacturer’s stores nationwide and are also listed on Jumia and at MTN Uganda service centers.
