Renowned R&B/soul singer Tems this week announced the launch of a first of its kind The Leading Vibe Initiative.

This is in a bid effort to empower young women who wish to learn and get involved with the music business, the “Looku Looku” Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur is planning a two-day seminar for between 15 and 20 women in Lagos.
According to a press release, the seminar is “to provide opportunities for participants to hone their craft, sharpen industry knowledge, and build community”.
The Leading Vibe Initiative is to commence on August 8 and go on till the 9, and it is set to bring together participants with industry executives and creatives for meet and greets, training sessions on songwriting and music production, studio sessions, panel discussions, and tutorials on different aspects of the music business; participants will also receive production software and other resources, the release states.
Tems is set to later lift the veil on the mentors and speakers who will be part of the program. In plan is also to extend the program beyond Lagos to additional cities in Africa in the future.
In a statement, Tems revealed that: “My goal with the Leading Vibe Initiative is to help discover and support talented young women who have the potential to redefine the industry. By providing access, tools and opportunity, we’re creating space for them to find their voices, step into their power and shape the future of music across the continent and globally.”, she noted.
Tems has enjoyed commercial success since her debut in 2019 and has since gone on to become one of the most successful artists of her generation. Her music style blends a mix of R&B, soul, Afrobeats, and alté. She’s racked up two Grammys — the first Nigerian artist with two — as well as two top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits.
The “Burning” crooner has additionally partnered with Native Instruments, which will be providing technology and support for the program, as shared a representative of the company. Tems has also joined the Native Instruments artist board, a collective that also includes Alicia Keys, Noah “40” Shebib, Jacob Collier and Ludwig Goransson, among others.
