Set to empower the next generation of women in music, the Kenyan edition will host female artists, songwriters, and producers aged 18–35 for two days of immersive programming, engaging them in workshops, masterclasses, and panel discussions led by leading industry voices, participants will sharpen their craft, gain insider knowledge, and build valuable connections in the music business.

Applications for the Kenyan leg of the Initiative are now open and will close on Saturday, August 30, 2025. This follows the success of LVI’s inaugural in-person edition in Lagos, Nigeria, which brought together 20 emerging women creatives. Over two days, participants engaged in intensive songwriting and production workshops, mentorship sessions, and industry panels featuring executives and established artists. The programme was powered by Native Instruments and Hennessy, with Tems herself hosting a welcome dinner that underscored her personal mission: to give women access to the opportunities she once lacked as a self-taught producer.

“In Africa and around the world, there are thousands of young women with the drive and potential to make history in music,” Tems said during the Lagos edition. “The Leading Vibe Initiative is about creating space for them to find their voice, step into their power, and shape the future of music.”

Nairobi’s rich cultural scene and dynamic pool of emerging talent make it the ideal second stop for LVI’s expansion across Africa. The initiative will once again provide hands-on training, mentorship, access to cutting-edge production tools, and a platform to amplify women’s voices in a male-dominated industry.

Founded by Tems as we reported here, the Leading Vibe Initiative is more than a programme, it’s a pan-African movement built to close the gender gap in music. By offering resources, mentorship, and opportunities for collaboration, LVI seeks to spotlight, connect, and elevate women across the continent.

Tems’ own career, from self-producing her early records like “Looku Looku”, “Damages”, “Higher”, and “Try Me” in Lagos to winning multiple GRAMMY Awards and performing on some of the world’s biggest stages is a testament of what’s possible when talent meets opportunity. Through LVI, she’s ensuring that more women get that chance.

Applications for the Nairobi edition are open until August 30, 2025. Female artists, songwriters, and producers between 18 and 35 based in Kenya are encouraged to apply now at leadingvibe.com.
