The Fuel Eco Tech (FET): What Your Car Needs, Not What It Wants

Uganda’s Answer to the Fuel Price Crisis Might Be a Device the Size of Your Fist

The recent surge in fuel prices; pushing premium petrol to nearly Ugx 7,000 per litre and diesel to around Ugx 6,600 has forced Ugandan motorists into familiar survival tactics: driving less, taking shorter routes, and, in the case of motorcycle operators, increasing fares.

Everyone adjusts except the one thing consuming the fuel: the vehicle itself.

For decades, motorists have been told that reducing fuel consumption requires buying a newer car, driving more cautiously, or simply accepting higher fuel costs as a fact of life. But what if the biggest fuel saving upgrade is not a new engine, a hybrid system, or an expensive modification? What if it is a device small enough to fit in your palm?

That is the proposition behind Fuel Eco Tech (FET), a technology being introduced to the Ugandan market by Vitorra Holdings Ltd. The company says the device can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30 percent without altering a single engine component.

Launched earlier this month at Vitorra’s offices at Padre Pio House under the theme, “Drive Further, Consume Less, Perform Better,” FET is designed to improve how fuel burns before it reaches the combustion chamber. Installed along the fuel line between the fuel filter and the high pressure pump, the device uses nanotechnology and a precisely engineered magnetic field to optimize the air fuel mixture, resulting in more complete combustion and improved fuel efficiency.

In practical terms, that means spending less money at the fuel station, a proposition that resonates strongly in today’s economic environment.

“FET is a technology we are introducing that addresses one of the most pressing challenges in Uganda and Africa at large: fuel,” remarked Shakira Nagawa, Vitorra’s Marketing Manager, during the launch.

One of the first questions many motorists ask is whether the device interferes with the engine, onboard computers, or factory settings. According to Thurayya Nakayima, Vitorra’s Head of Sales and Marketing, it does not.

“It works exclusively on the preparation and conditioning of the fuel, without directly intervening in the combustion engine, the control electronics, or exhaust gas after treatment,” she explained. “No changes in the injection system or engine components are necessary. It is a physical optimization, not a mechanical or electronic intervention.”

According to Vitorra, even modest efficiency gains can translate into substantial savings. A vehicle consuming Shs 500,000 worth of fuel every week could potentially save millions of shillings annually. For logistics firms, bus operators, delivery fleets, agricultural enterprises, construction companies, and government institutions, such reductions can significantly lower operating costs.

The technology’s appeal becomes even more relevant when viewed through the lens of Uganda’s vehicle market. Most vehicles on Ugandan roads are used imports, often carrying years of mileage, carbon buildup, and declining fuel efficiency.

Automotive enthusiast Moses Kiboneka, popularly known as Uncle Mo, believes this is where FET delivers its greatest value.

“The average win is between 10 and 15 percent of how much fuel is saved,” he said. “But I’ve seen some people getting into the 20s and 30s.”

His advice was particularly directed at owners of older vehicles.

“Anything before 2018 would be very advisable,” he noted. “It’s your way of buying a new car.”

The point is simple: most motorists cannot afford to replace their vehicles simply because fuel consumption has increased. What they need is a way to make the vehicle they already own perform closer to how it did when it was newer.

Beyond fuel savings, FET also targets a less visible problem: incomplete combustion. When fuel does not burn efficiently, carbon deposits gradually accumulate inside the engine, clogging injectors, valves, intake systems, and exhaust components. Over time, this reduces performance, increases fuel consumption, and leads to costly repairs.

“Wherever you have a collection of combustion residue, what you have coming up is a clogged system,” Uncle Mo explained. “The car can’t move as it wants to move, and you’ll have to come to the garage earlier than expected.”

Vitorra argues that by promoting cleaner combustion, FET helps reduce carbon buildup, improve engine performance, extend service intervals, and ultimately lower maintenance costs.

Installation takes less than an hour, and because the device sits outside the engine system, no factory settings are altered. It can also be removed and transferred to another vehicle, making it a one time investment rather than a recurring expense like fuel additives or engine treatments.

Naturally, any product promising significant fuel savings invites skepticism. The automotive market has seen its share of miracle gadgets and exaggerated claims. Vitorra says FET has been developed and tested in Germany over a six year period, carries ISO 9001:2015 certification, has been validated by AVL, one of the world’s leading engine testing companies, and is backed by Zurich product liability insurance.

Ultimately, however, its success will be determined not in laboratories but on Uganda’s roads, in fuel receipts, and in the operating budgets of businesses willing to put it to the test.

Because at a time when fuel remains one of the biggest pressures on household and business finances, the conversation is no longer about what motorists want. They want cheaper fuel. What they need is a way to use less of it. And Vitorra believes the answer may be sitting in the palm of your hand.

The price of the FET ranges from £350 to £1,098 and come with a five year warranty. As the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development continues to ideate what to do as the promise for global fuel prices to drop following the US and Iran agreeing to sign a peace deal, Uganda’s pump prices will not be adjusted. This therefore creates a bigger need more than ever for you to give Vitorra Holdings Ltd’s innovation; the Fuel Eco Tech (FET) a try.
