Having conquered the fashion space with his signature denim fashion imprint; Denim Cartel, Ugandan entrepreneur Troy Elimu is now stepping into his other creative side, venturing into music.
Just as he has led a fashion revolution that seeks to repurpose secondhand clothing through his street fashion brand Denim Cartel, as a young creative and mastermind behind Kente Creations, Troy has over the last one year been cooking something for the lovers of music.

The fruit of all those hours is now culminating into a brief 6-track body of work by the title “CARTEL BIZNESS – EP”, and yesterday, the world was treated with a taste of it, with the first single off it dropping.
Looking back at the track list, CARTEL BIZNESS – EP is carrying a lot of star energy, cuz on there is guest appearances from Kenyan sensation Bensoul, fast rising rapper Tungi, mans like SoundlykBB as well as Timothy Code, the man who needs no introduction “Mr UNUSUAL” Elijah Kitaka, Big Tril, Mike Kayihura, Joshua Baraka, Jokwiz Klean, Kamanzii and the GOAT, A Pass.
Axon is no stranger to collaborative projects, just as Troy Elimu has ridden shotgun on this one. Axon has previously teamed up with music creators Akeine for her maiden self-titled project Niwe Akeine in 2022, as well as the sultry “Heartstrings” EP, which he worked on closely as a producer with Kohen Jaycee and released in 2022.

I like to believe that the idea of the CARTEL BIZNESS – EP was birthed following a pairing by Guinness Bright House, for it was while preparing for an upcoming edition that Axon and Troy Elimu first teased that they would be dropping this particular body of work.
How this links to the story is that for the artwork of the project, Troy is clad in an all-black helmet and suit. These are from his Denim Cartel Street fashion brand, and he first debuted these helmets at a Guinness Bright House event last year in July.
The full EP is expected to arrive July 16 and if “EASY” featuring A Pass & Mike Kayihura is anything to go by, this one is “going to slap”.
Why I’d bet my dimes on that it’s a super star producer (Axon) working the production magic, and the star-studded line up of the guest artists on the project is another element to bank on. “EASY” has easily resonated with music fans, with many heaping praises on how Mike Kayihura and A Pass each brought their prowess to it. The track has such an inconceivable replay value.
For the new life he gives to discarded fashion items, and coming up with unique outfits, Troy Elimu’s works have been cosigned by Jidenna, Burna Boy among others.
Listen to “EASY” by Denim Cartel, Axon featuring A Pass & Mike Kayihura below, and share your thoughts on it. Personally, I’m sold!!!
