“We want Namboole!” were the initial online textual chants of excitement over the weekend once the cat was let out of the bag that we are finally getting a Vinka concert.
Known for hosting mega football tournaments and also going by the fact that global stars are accustomed to selling out arenas and stadiums, given the enviable catalogue Vinka has to her name and her power house performances, Mandela National Stadium (Namboole Stadium )would naturally be the most befitting venue for this momentous occasion that is her maiden solo concert, except that Namboole isn’t yet open to host concerts, or anything outside football.
Known for her out of the world choreography, vibrant stage presence and buoyant catalogue that spans over 8 years, it came only natural that fans of good Ugandan music and party goers yearned to watch Vinka headline her own concert, also given her label counterparts have previously shared in the same glory of holding their own concerts and intimate shows.
Whether it was at the Ice Cream and Cake Festival, Blankets and Wine Festival, The Bell OBA Fest, East Side Tour, an alumni league, Jameson Hangout or even at privately booked events, whenever Vinka hits the stage, trust her to eat up that performance and leave no crumbs whatsoever. Asides that, the “Malaika” crooner’s biggest other strength is her very likeable personality and none involvement in chaos or any brand damaging activities, which has in turn attracted good will of the public, music executives, enabling her maintain older fans while attracting new ones.
Over the years, the demand for a concert has been there, but something even more interesting recently happened. The request for the concert was a fan led campaign, where her fans ran a petition campaign for a Vinka concert. Might have taken some time, but at last, we are here!
The concert announcement arrives on the heels of the singer’s recent releases Mine and Lalala which have performed commercially well, and reinformed her as a hit making machine that can make you dance if she wants to, have you in your feels if she desires so, guess that’s why they call her the Boss Man Jahh.

Over the years, Vinka has conquered the charts here in home country and carved out a huge reputation for herself continentally and globally with collaborative projects with INNA, Phina, Rafa Pabön, Oladapo, and Yung6ix, among others. She has gained a ton of crossover momentum racking up multiple Top 10 Hits back home, while setting her footing internationally.
From being an artist manager, to stepping into the spotlight as a singer, song writer, performing artist, entrepreneur, a mother and partner, Vinka is multifaceted and that is what makes her “Live and Loud” and inspirational. Her consistency in delivering not just high quality audio and music videos plus top notch live performances is what makes her a true trailblazer.
The show is scheduled for Friday August 21 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. Not to brag but my birth month stays the gift that keeps giving. Just as was the case in A Pass’ concert, being that the singer has numerous recognizable hits “Gunkwase”, “Omukwano Gwo”, “Nja Kusitula”, “Malaika”, “Fimbo”, “Chips Na Ketchup”, “Sure”, “Love Panic”, “Bailando”, “Sweet Love”, “Nkubika”, etc selecting the tracks for the set list is tough, but again in our Empress we trust. Tickets to the highly anticipated concert will go live soon. The aptly named Vinka Live & Loud concert is a full circle moment, especially for the day one fans. Our girl deserves it, the love online and our turning up in large numbers. Inform another Vinka fan that you know that this concert is a Must Attend. In regard to whether there’ll be any supporting/ opening acts, there is only one way to find out.
