The scenes are those that words can’t perfectly describe but to dive into what transpired last night, here’s what you might have missed out (in case you didn’t make it to the show).

Happening for the very first time, the Ganda Vibes Experience offered the perfect backdrop for Kampala revelers to have a time last night at the Kampala Serena Hotel as they wrapped up August.

The Ganda Vibes and events powerhouse House of DJs curated event provided lovers of good music a serene environment and the perfect performer line up, that was led by renowned sensational Congolese vocalist, songwriter, and choreographer Ya Levis.

By the stroke of 4 PM, the gates were open and Kampala people being the lovers of a good party began checking, donning elegant outfits to fit the occasion. Unfortunately, some weren’t allowed in as tickets had SOLD OUT and therefore none were selling at the entrance to fit into the venue’s maximum sitting capacity.

For those who had planned prior and got their passes on time, a great evening awaited, and here is how the event went, from this writer’s point of view.

To start with, were the emcees who did an incredible job keeping revelers engaged. Zuba Mutesi, who comes in from the +255 (Kigali, Rwanda), and rapper/ media personality Timothy Code. Zuba first made her debut as host of Shorts Na Leesu featuring Ric Hassani at the start of this year, and given Timothy Code’s experience as Mc and media personality, a better pair couldn’t have been named for this role, and they did the stage justice with their chemistry and vibe.

The opening act of the night was Mutungi Keith also professionally known as Tungi, one of the most exciting musical voices to grace the Uganda urban music scene. Tungi treated those in attendance to some of the tracks off his “Life of Sound” EP, and smash hit single “Find You”, and “G Energy”

To set the mood for what was promising to be a good evening of music, and merry-making, was Deejay Bugy, who equally kept attendees on their dancing feet, with the BIG HITS!

Taking the evening a notch higher, serving a musical galore, was Handsome DJ, repping for Ssese Nation DJs, who played a 15-minute “nyigos” set.

Sending us straight into our feels was the amazing Kamanzii, who took revelers on a musical rollercoaster thanks to her angelic voice. Clad in a cream fairy dress, Kamanzii as backed by The Double Black Band took to the Ganda Vibes Experience stage at 9Pm, opening with a cover of Chris Brown’s “Angel Numbers/ Ten Toes” (11:11), transitioning into “Love Me Jeje” by Tems, and a chain of her original releases “Beautiful Reality”, then her freshly released Kaboo collaboration “8-Ball”, closing her set with “Irakoze Kyane”.

In not so long from then, Kohen Jaycee then brought on the feel-good energy and special fever, opening with “SIGANYE”, following it with “Don’t Leave Me”. Taking attendees where all the story begun, Kohen sang “No Letting Go”, a fan favorite and as expected, this had many getting up, singing along word for word, and he then closed off with “10:30”, a single off his upcoming debut studio album “RWEBEMBERA”, which he announced will be dropping this coming Friday.

Raising enchantments from the crowds upon his name being announced that he was performing next, the man of the season Elijah Kitaka came on, opening his set with “Ndi Wuwo”, proceeding with a medley of a rendition of Burna Boy’s ‘Ye”, and Brick & Lace’s “slippery When Wet”. “Seducation”, “Tutu Mama”, “Nothing” were the other of his records he performed, and in the spirit of saving the best for last, the UNUSUAL Kitaka then concluded with “Touch & Continue” and his earworm “DAWA”, to which crowds sang along to, word to word.

As we drew closer to the reason of the night, which was a person by Ya Levis, Azawi took to the stage, performing “Lofit”, “Slow Dancing”, “Repeat It”, among others.

Probably the set revelers didn’t know they needed it, till they were treated to it, was a double/ joint deejaying set by DJ Alza and DJ Ssese, as the evening folded to usher in all to Ya Levis’ set.

Finally, the reason for the night, all the way from France to Kampala, Ya Levis made a grand descension to the stage at the clock of 11:55Pm, attracting enchantments at a rather excited audience. The night took a turn once he commenced with his performance. Guys, had properly did their revision, and were all Francophone in the moment. From singing along to “Aicha”, “Mokolo ya l’amour”, “Kachua”, “Libala”, “Chocolat”, “Nakati” to “Mbang’u Te”, a time was surely had. Heels were put off, waists were whined, leaving many ecstatic and in awe, at the entire musical experience. The Ganda Vibes Experience was indeed one to witness for yourself, for not even words can describe the experience, it was too jovial. You just had to be there.

Pro Tip; be sure to buy tickets on time, on future events, not just for the Ganda Vibes Experience but others as well. It saves you a lot of last minute panicking or even potentially getting access to the event.
