Spotify’s “Playlist In A Bottle” Makes Exciting Return. Here’s How To Set Up Yours

Date:

By now, you must have had enough time to completely lambast your mates with Spotify Wrapped and your audio streaming personality by now, but hey, there’s plenty more listening data where that came from.

The music streaming giant has brought back its “Playlist in a Bottle” feature a year after it launched on Jan. 5, 2023. The truly long-game tool lets you make a brief time capsule of the music you’re listening to right now, which you’ll only get to look at exactly 12 months later.

Spotify’s “Playlist in a Bottle” feature, launched on January 5, 2023, has made a return. The captivating, interactive in-app true long-game tool prompts users to create a tiny time capsule of their current music preferences.

The three song-inspired questions then enable a unique Playlist in a Bottle to be generated and that playlist remains locked away for a year, offering another chance for listeners to reconnect with the songs that defined their musical selves from the past year, which is twelve (12) months after creating it.

If you participated previously, your 2023- time capsule is ready to be unveiled. Access your Playlist in a Bottle by tapping the link on your Spotify App or searching “Playlist in a Bottle” in the application’s Search section and diving in.

Remember, the Playlist in a Bottle feature is available only until January 31, 2024, so making your selections before then is highly recommended. It also serves as a reminder to create new playlists for 2025, saved in a Bottle and ready to open in the future.

For those who made a playlist last year, it’s time to claim it. If you didn’t, you can create one for the next year, to be opened in 2025. Follow these steps to make one (sow) now, so you too can musically reap, when harvest time reaches.

1. Open the Spotify Playlist in a Bottle website on your smartphone or desktop.

2. Select an object for your time capsule, such as a snow globe, wheelie bin, rice cooker, flip phone, bird’s nest, or a traditional bottle.

3. Answer Spotify’s questions and choose your songs, ranging from a song for aliens to a live performance or a desert island selection.

4. Hit “I’m done.”

5. Leave a note for your future self by drawing on the square.

6. Review your playlist and tap “Lock in.” Make any edits if needed.

7. Hold your finger on the fingerprint icon to save your playlist.

8. Wait one year until Spotify notifies you in 2025.
