In the quest for this year’s Miss Tourism Uganda, a regional pageant was held in the Western region, crowning three queens to represent the area at the national level in September. The event, held at the Western Meridian Hotel in Bushenyi district, saw Birungi Shanne, 19, crowned queen, with Abigail Abaho and Banny Shadia as her runners-up.
The pageant, part of a nationwide search, aims to promote tourism and peace, with a focus on environmental conservation. The new queen and her team will champion the protection of Western Uganda’s dwindling glaciers, threatened by climate change.
The Miss Tourism Uganda grand finale will take place on September 14th, 2024, at Kampala Serena Hotel, featuring representatives from eight regions. The search continues, with the next stop in Rwenzori on July 26th.
