Nile Special rewards Mountain Slayers Hikers UGX 3Million for Viral Photos at Mt Rwenzori

Date:

Nile Breweries, Uganda’s leading beer company through its flagship brand ‘Nile Special has always been one stand out company when it comes to rewarding its extremely loyal customers (consumers) for their creative posts about their love for the brew, whose tag line is “the True Reward from the Source”.

Early this week, a picture of a man holding a Nile Special beer bottle at the top of Mountain Rwenzori with a big smile spread like wildfire online, and to be particular Twitter. It got so much hype, with one online user jokingly saying she would undress if Nile didn’t honor this picture and reward its owner. She tagged them in the tweet.

To this effect, Nile Special launched a search for the owner of this photo, so they could do a little something for him, as appreciation for the tremendous job , saying;

Because of the power of social media and how word moves very fast, a few hours later the owner of the legendary shot was later discovered

We would later identify the gentleman who took the photo with the Nile Special bottle while at the Rwenzori mountains which went viral all over the internet as Anthony Natif, a member of the Mountain Slayers Uganda Club; a hiking club that was formed in 2015 to promote hiking and outdoor lifestyle among Ugandans of all demographics.

The story follows an expedition which the group consisting of 26 members under the MSU hiking club, on September 5, took to Mountain Rwenzori in Kasese District which is a border with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The highest peak of Rwenzori is 5,109 meters and it is here that Anthony Natif took a photo with the Nile Special bottle, taking it to great heights with a stunning caption hailing the Nile Special brand, which has since went viral all over the internet.

Natif describing the extra-ordinary experience with the Nile Beer saying; “At MSU, we are all about enjoying and showcasing the beauty that Uganda has to offer. And it does have a lot of gems! To that end, we aren’t shy about showing off brands we consider true representations of the Ugandan experience. Nile Special is a quintessential Ugandan brand, loved and enjoyed by millions. It also happens to be the most popular beer in the club. We take pride in it. When Mountain Slayers Uganda organized a Rwenzori expedition, it was a perfect opportunity for us to showcase Nile Special against the backdrop of the highest peak of the most beautiful mountain not only in Uganda but in Africa. We were careful to ensure the bottle was nicely wrapped and tucked deep inside my daypack so it wouldn’t easily break or the contents freeze throughout the 5 days of climbing that it took to get to Margherita. It worked and we were thrilled to share that picture with the world!” Anthony Natif said.

Following the social media buzz, Nile Special had earlier got in touch with Mr. Anthony Natif, to which he humbly requested that Nile Special give a donation to the Mountain Slayers Uganda Club so that they can buy equipment for the Bakonjo mountain guides.

Therefore, a handover ceremony was held earlier today at the Nile Breweries Ltd, Head Office, in Portbell Road, Luzira, where we witnessed the brewer offer a reward of a cheque worth 3,000,000/= to the Mountain Slayers Uganda Club to enable them purchase equipment for the Bakonjo mountain guides. The cheque was handed over to Ms. Amou Majok at Nile Breweries Ltd, Head Office, Portbell Road, Luzira.
