Many Kampala men would rather travel with their girlfriend or crush on an all-expenses-paid 6-day trip to Dubai if the opportunity presented itself, but here comes Ryan Magala, who seems to be no ordinary Kampala man.
Ryan won a fully paid trip to the Afrozons Soundoff in Dubai; the biggest Afrobeats event, that was organized by Afrozons, RivExcel, sponsored by the Dubai Tourism Board, and Kampala’s finest station, Radiocity 97FM.
Having won this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, he was tasked to choose one person of his choice to take as his plus one on the trip and the 23-year-old chose his mother.
Ryan says it was only right he would enjoy this trip with someone special.
Upon receiving the news that he had been the chosen one as a winner, he too was surprised since the winner was to be picked at random. Ryan withheld the news until a few weeks to the trip and his mother only took him seriously once she got email confirmation about the trip from Afrozons.
On what stood out for him during his Dubai trip, Ryan says he enjoyed every bit of the trip, right from the flight, the bumpy desert drives, and the desert party headlined by Nigerian superstar DBanj. As for his mother, the food and the Visit to the Palm View hotel was her stand-out moment.
Asked if he would choose her one more time in case he won another all-expenses-paid trip to any part of the world, he says in a burst of deep laughter… “no I would choose another special person, and I think she would not get mad at me, she would understand.”
