But first up, who exactly is Aida Vee?

Born Aida Victoria Nakityo, Aida Vee is a Ugandan AfroPop and RnB singer, songwriter, designer, and entrepreneur based in Boston (USA). The 25-year-old before going mainstream founded and is the lead singer for an all-genre performing live band “Urbana Band”.

At the early age of 15, Aida opened a streetwear brand fashion brand “House of Toria” and its product line encompassed Versatile Urban Comfortable and Authentic products. Aida Vee would later move to Kenya and then the United States where she kick-started her musical career officially.

Among her first releases was ‘Calling’ on which she features Gabzie, “It’s Only You”, and “Dance It Up”.

Aida Vee’s style of music marries Pop together with African sounds and Western rhymes to create unique melodies. She however most recently implored and revisited her African roots on her new Extended Play “Komawo”.

On the contemporary 5 track project, Aida Vee tells a fictional story of Aida Vee who is caught in a love forbidden by her Ugandan-African father. “Mwai”, the object of her affection, is not the first pick for most fathers. She is however torn. And as love would have it, she gives into her affections and leaves her father’s choice left without a bride.

She opens with “Wololo Mwai”, a track on which she calls upon her love interest to go visit her parents (a common tradition where the intending couple has to visit each other’s parents as a sign of commitment). Having spent the greater part of her childhood in Kawempe (a suburb in Kampala, Uganda), the 25-year-old, therefore, emphasizes this element by singing to him to come visit her parents in Kawempe.

Aida Vee on the follow-up track “My Mwai” and “Mwai” croons in persuasion to her to let her be, to let her give him all the love she has in store, furthering that her love interest has pure intentions and genuine love for its evident in how he treats her. The last two songs on there are instrumentals.

The songbird released her EP as a gift to her Vee Vines on her 25 birthday at the close of August (26th).
