Azawi Lands Very First Brand Endorsement of Her Career. Joins Fireboy DML, Beverly Naya As Guinness Brand Ambassador

2021 indeed continues to be Prisicilla Zawedde also known as Azawi’s year, as she sang in her now hit single ‘My Year’.

The singer’s latest win besides being onboarded for a UBL at 75 Years Anniversary docuseries is that she now joins one of their brands – Guinness as its face.

Speculations around what big deal the singer songwriter and performing artist had sealed when a work colleague shared a clip of her confirming that a major deal had been sealed.

It was in the spirit of a Pan African movement to celebrate Guinness’s in an all-new ‘Black Shines Brightest’ continental takeover and launch at the Next Media Park (Ugandan); as a celebration and an embodiment of 1759 (Guinness Smooth)’s qualities and characteristics” as – bold, flavorful, and confident.

Guinness has had a long and rich history in Africa and since grown its organic sales and trademark up by over 32% across the continent for the year ending 30th June 2021 hence the celebrations across key markets in Africa.

The campaign launched with an energetic and colourful commercial directed by star director Meji Alabi. Meji famous for his work with a whole range of incredible artists from Beyoncé and Davido through to Tiwa Savage and Wizkid.

The event was also attended by key figures; Malaika Nyanzi (media personality/ actress), Sasha Vybz (cinematographer) and Uncle Mo (comedian) and saw the fast-rising star add more light to the Bright house with an energetic performance; Starting off with her hit song Repeat itLofit, Quinamino, she climaxed her performance with her 2021 hit single My Year.

She joins the likes of ‘Need You’ Nigerian Afropop Singer Fireboy DML, Nollywood actress, Beverley Naya, Entertainment content creator – Oli Ekun, and independent photojournalist, Yagazie Emezi, Tanzanian singer, Nandy, self-taught inventor Kehinde Durojaye and Prince Nelson Enwerem, a mover and shaker who is setting trends and leading the way in culture in Nigeria.

In Nigeria, the announcement was made during the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality TV show tagged ‘BBNaija Lockdown’.

In a press statement; Uganda Breweries Ltd Brand Manager Elizabeth Mutamuliza states that:

“This exciting new campaign will see Guinness at the beating heart of Ugandan culture by championing new talent and all those people making waves in our society.”

“Just like those we are working with, Guinness is bursting with life. It is a flavourful, bold, and dynamic beer, sparkling and brimming with energy and exuberance. It is the liquid embodiment of a black shines brightest attitude. A beer that has brought a dash of magic to millions in Africa and across the world for over 250 years with the boldness and vision to live life to the full”. She added.

Azawi, is the latest addition to the Guinness family of Ambassadors after Mun G and Sheila Salta in 2020. She shared the news in a post via social:
