Azawi has returned with her new single, ‘My Year’, taken from her upcoming new album.

The 24year-old star’s follow up album, whose title is not yet revealed later on the release date’s lead single ‘My Year’ has arrived.

In short snippets, a newly short haired Azawi, all clad in red against a slowly animated background with a Swang Avenue banner and a replica of a city, which vividly translates her breakthrough/ takeover she made last year (2020) with her EP as the camera zooms in on her.

Over a bouncy beat, she sings: “if you are having a desire, this year might be your year,’. She has been sharing clips, with just the song’s intro and melody.

In April, the artist announced that her debut album was ready, and that it was a tight race choosing from her catalogue of over 52 songs on which to drop first. A decision was reached and ‘My Year’ was the song.

The events of last year were a big subject, with majority of the people’s plans coming to a standstill because of the pandemic and its effects on majority of the sectors; which is quite relatable for the people. On the 3minute 18 second track, the fast-rising singer passionately manifests this year being a good one, with each person winning big time, achieving their resolutions (getting married, make money) and not to worry about a thing.

Alongside the audio for ‘My Year’ arrived an accompanying music video as directed by renowned Motion Picture Director; Kenny Roc, and was shot at the Moon Valley Studios in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Priscilla Zawedde better known by her stage name Azawi (baddest)’s ‘My Year’ serves as follow up to her highly acclaimed 2020 5-track Extended Play ‘LoFIT’.

kiri automatic, its my year’ screams the artwork for the song, and is one of Azawi hoping in motion (air) having made a high jump, while clad in some hard drip (attire). Just like all her former singles and projects, this one too was distributed under Swangz Avenue, a record label where she has been singed to for close to a year and a few months. Her other label mates include Winnie Nwagi, and another talent by the name Vinka.
