Kane Brown knows love isn’t always easy; that relationships have ups and downs and they aren’t always a smooth road. He admits as much in “Be Like That,” a new track he released on Friday (July 10th) featuring rapper Swae Lee and R&B artist Khalid.

The song mixes country with a plucky, tropical guitar line and finger snaps, infectious pop and hip-hop elements, and sees the artists switching off verses as they discuss someone they love (even if she pisses them off sometimes) and that the relationship keeps pulling the song’s protagonist back in.

“I might be better on my own / I hate you blowing up my phone / I wish I never met you’re a** / But sometimes it be like that,” the hook proclaims, before switching over to a more positive light: “But I’m not myself the nights you’re gone / There ain’t no way I’m moving on / I’m not afraid to need you bad / Sometimes it be like that.”

“It’s about all the different feelings you can have in a relationship,” Brown said of the tune. “And trying not to overthink it. When it gets tough, you want to be on your own, but then you miss the person a second later. I think it’s something everyone goes through.”

The Pop-forward anthem had all three artists have a hand in the penning of the lyrics and the track does come with a total playtime of 3minutes and 14s seconds.

While “Be Like That” is the country star’s first song with Swae Lee, Brown and Khalid previously worked together on a remix of the latter’s single, “Saturday Nights” in January 2019. From there, Brown went on to work with a series of stars across multiple genres, including eminent DJ; Marshmello, with whom he co-wrote and released “One Right Thing.” His ballad with John Legend, “Last Time I Say Sorry,” followed in March 2020 did so well on the charts. The following month, Brown dropped “Cool Again”.

Swae Lee released “Reality Check” last month, his first new music since his feature on Chloe x Halle’s hit “Catch Up” from their Top R&B Album ‘Ungodly Hour’. Earlier this year, Khalid unveiled a pair of critically acclaimed new singles, “Know Your Worth” (w/ Disclosure) and “Eleven” feat. Summer Walker along with stunning visuals to accompany both tracks.

Whereas Kane’s Worldwide Beautiful Tour was rescheduled to 2021 due to the novel corona virus pandemic, the multi-platinum country superstar Brown continues to release for the mean time; “Be Like That” being one of them.  It’d been a while without some new music from Khalid. Super excited about this new collab. Check out “Be Like That” here:
