Over the weekend, the maiden Janzi awards ceremony took place following the unveiling of nominees end of last month.
The two-day event took place at the Kololo Independence Grounds; and attracted a large turn-up, right from Artists, Comedians, Media, and performances from A Pass, Sheebah, Azawi, Kenneth Mugabi, Karole Kasita, B2C, Lilian Mbabazi among others.
Songstresses, Azawi and Pia Pounds were among the biggest winners of the night, as each bagged two awards with Azawi for the Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year categories and Pia Pounds for Song of the Year and Video of the Year awards.
Veteran musician and co-founder of Afrigo Band, Uganda’s oldest group, Moses Matovu was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, and gospel singer Levixone received the Humanitarian Award.
The late singer and member of the Radio and Weasel group, Mozey Radio won in the Outstanding Legendary Artist Award category. He was nominated alongside Maddox Sematimba and Jose Chameleon.
