Carrying with him a catalog that carries bangers “Baby”, “Alcohol”, “Body & Soul”, “Nobody”, “Adenuga”, “Contour”, among other joints is Akifenwa Joseph otherwise known by his stage name Joeboy. The 26-year-old Nigerian talent arrived in Kampala (Uganda) last night at about 3:20am.

This is against the backdrop of his forthcoming role as the headlining act at the first stop of his Lavida Rave. Having been teased for close to a month now, the “Call on Me” singer is expected to grace the Lugogo Hockey Grounds stage this weekend, Saturday July 27.

Having gained notoriety with “Baby” in 2019, he has since been the talk of many Gen Z music enthusiasts, prompting him to perform it in that same year at the inaugural Malembe Block Party.

To the answer of many’s prayers, he’s made a second coming to Ugandan soil, this time with even more body, and more soul, as he has two albums out now; “Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic” (2021), and “Body & Soul” (2023), plus two Extended Plays; “Love & Light” and “Body, Soul & Spirit” plus a chain of hit singles, so revelers can therefore look forward to an action forward show this Saturday where he’ll be performing.

While addressing the media at the pre-event presser held at the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) Hub in Kansanga, Joeboy noted that: when he started out with his music career, Ugandans relentlessly supported his music, in that it even at the Malembe Block Party where was among the performing acts, it was his very first time outside Uganda. Therefore, by the Young Legend’s coming back is him reciprocating the love.

Adding to that, Pon deck furthered that he is a big lover of art, and everything around it, from music, to fashion, gaming etc etc; which explains why there’s not only gonna be a karaoke, fashion exhibitions, Rap battles, a FIFA tournament and DJ battles at the Lavida Rave.

On his decision to go independent and start his own label, the “Police” singer revealed that it wasn’t an ego thing, but rather it was coming from a place of wishing to inspire fellow young people that it is never too late to chase their dreams, and that being signed to his own label had been his life long dream and that is happy to realize it now, with Young Legend. He encouraged them to start with whatever they have, take it a step at a time, and that they will make it.

When asked how Ugandan artists can best put themselves out there, Joeboy recommended that they do media tours, out of their countries, that way they can spread out their music and meet new audiences. He then encouraged them to be a pack together, to stick together, put their differences aside and unite for a common good, which is growing their industry. Another approach he said they as Nigerians use to spread their music is when out at a club, they always request for Nigerian music, regardless of the country they are in, that way, the music keeps moving.

On what people can expect, Joeboy remarked that he now has more than 20 songs that he cant wait to perform, adding that it’s gonna be a Rave, it’s gonna be a lituation and that he is looking forward to a super wonderful experience, as he connects with Ugandans, and they connect with him.

Making brief remarks at the presser, Sammy Wetala, one of the partners at Nduguz Culture, there’s something for everyone at the Lavida Rave.

There’s something for the gamers, something for the fast rising artists too (which is a recording booth that’s been set up by ATS Events in which the best submission for the “Adenuga” open verse challenge will get a chance to record a track with Joeboy”.
