After months of teasing its release, safe to say that Rema has officially stolen the show with the roll out of his highly anticipated album ‘Rave & Roses’.
Born Divine Ikubor in Benin City, Rema popped onto the scene in 2019 with ‘Dumebi’, which later got a remix with Becky G, and went on to drop a repertoire of countless bangers just like famous artist intro ‘Anaada Banger’; that included ‘Woman’, ‘Bounce’, ‘Soundgasm’ and most recently “Calm Down’.
It has since been 3 years of delivering smash hits, one after the other, delivering impactful records, hitting milestones, and getting you on your feet to dance and has thus far been an amazing journey for the lad.
As of today, the wunderkind adds an LP ‘Rave & Roses’ to his rich catalogue; after years of anticipation.
Signed to Mavin-Jozing, Rema has finally released his debut album ‘Rave & Roses‘ and while housing sixteen (16) tracks, this project allows Rema to showcase two sides of his personality; with ‘rave’ embodying his infectious, youthful energy while ‘roses’ delves into deeper themes such as loss and pressure.
‘Rave & Roses‘ is purposefully star-studded as Rema collaborates with Chris Brown on ‘Time N Affection‘, 6lack on ‘Hold Me‘, Yseult on ‘Wine‘ and of course AJ Tracey on the recently released ‘FYN‘. Many netizens are likening his sound to that of The Weeknd because of his delivery on ‘Addicted’.
In an industry where artists seek to distinguish their sound from others, The 21-year-old hit machine describes his own sound as Afrorave, a sub-genre of the acclaimed Afrobeats genre. Wanna know what Afrorave is made of? Relax, take a deep breath, listen and embark on a mellifluous journey into the Raverland. You’re welcome!
