Nigerian Afro-Fusion singer and Afro Pop New Talent Omah Lay has gained prominence for the most parts of this year and won the hearts of many music enthusiasts with his vocal prowess and stylish songwriting skills. Omah Lay has teamed up with award-winning American rapper and songwriter, 6Lack who delivered a “killer” verse for the remix of his raving song ‘Damn’. The collective effort on this masterpiece is laudable and worth listening to.
This comes a few weeks after releasing the ‘Cricket Remix’ of the fan favorite single. The singer, songwriter, and record producer made the surprise announcement last night that he was recreating magic with the song; ‘Damn’, but this time alongside 6LACK. In the post, the 23-year-old is seen in studio vibing to it while still in production:
Big love to my brother @6LACK for blessing this record!

DAMN featuring 6lack drops at midnight! 💜 pic.twitter.com/tDSfVW5vCw
‘Damn’ is taken off Omah Lay’s acclaimed debut studio project ‘Get Layd‘ the EP that was dropped in May, this year. He has previously worked with acts Wizkid, DJ Tunez, and also appeared on one of my favorite songs at the moment “Infinity” which was taken off Olamide’s Carpe Diem album.
In the original version’s visuals, Omah references his surging fame & success while also paying homage to his home base of Lagos. In an interview with Complex, he revealed that ‘Damn’ was undeniably his favorite release off the EP, saying: ‘To be very honest, ‘Damn’ was easily my favorite song on the album,” Omah Lay told Complex. I had fun making it and it had to be the only song I didn’t have to go back into the studio to change anything. I think it’s even one of the reasons I insisted we shoot the video last.”
On “DAMN” , Omah Lay perfects an ode to his unconditionally loving gal, despite his complex character as “a bad boy who does wrongs” but fears God.” It’s this interestingly typical interaction which influences much of the music, amidst other influences such as sex and substance. This new version features 6Lack and is a perfect blend of Afrobeat and Rap.
He announced the availability of the remix, while unveiling its artwork + snippet as well, and sharing links for fans to go check it out. 🔥
The single was released under Sire Records. You can Listen to the 3minute R&B/ Soul ‘DAMN’ (Remix), whose Production credit goes to Bizzouch on all major digital music streaming & platforms. 💜 Share your thoughts below, about whether you prefer the original or the remix.
