Many of us may know her from her 2019 breakthrough single ‘John Cena’, however Sho has been around for some time now. The critically lauded artist first came on the scene in 2017 garnering instant attention for her unique delivery of Xitsonga lyrics and colorful fashion that mixes traditional African dress with modern flourishes. Nominated for best new international artist on Sunday’s BET Awards for the second time in as many years (she won in 2019), her songs “John Cena” and “Huku” have each logged over a million streams on Spotify, bringing her to the attention of masses worldwide. She’s won the BET’s Best New International Act Award in 2019 and also bagged the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award in the Favorite African Star category among other awards during her time.
The latest coming in is that Epic Records signed South African rap sensation yesterday and she joins the label’s esteemed roster as the only South African act in North America. The rapper cum actor’s star keeps shinning, and now the joins the likes of Future and Travis Scott, who are part of the label. She broke the news via her Twitter:

Next up is that Sho is to release her debut single for Epic Records soon; and with her reputation for dropping nimble bars, multi-lingual lyrical fireworks, and downright revolutionary hooks, she has all the makings of an international force and we can’t wait to hear it all.
Sho Madjozi will work closely and commence with her new signing role with sister Epic Records’ sister label Sony Music Entertainment Africa that’s based in South Africa. They do say they are thrilled to be supporting legendary sister label Epic Records on such an important South African artist. “We’re working at a special company at a special time and we couldn’t be prouder than we are of our local star Sho and our big sister Sylvia for partnering to make this happen,” said Sean Watson, Managing Director of Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
