5 Songs To Lend Your Ears This Week: Drake, Adekunle Gold, Fik Fameica & More

Date:

The music scene is ever buzzing but this particular one has been blazing with new music, video and album releases. This piece keeps you up abreast with 5 tracks you should definitely check out. See below: –

5. Drake ft Tems – Fountains

Taken of Drake’s latest album; Certified Lover Boy as track number 16, Drake touches base with an old stomping ground as Tems relays a same magic on a body-shifting and jazzy dancehall number; just like she did on ‘Essence’.

4. Slick Stuart & Roja Ft. Fik Fameica – Happy Gang

Deejaying duo DJ Slick Stuart & Roja’s Very Wellooo album made a year since release last week on the 28th as they hadn’t dropped anything since the LP’s arrival. They made a return; this time round exploring the trendy Amapiano style of music on this feel-good jam titled  ‘Happy Gang’, featuring Fik Fameica as produced by Artin.  In ‘Happy Gang’, Fik Fameica describes himself as a person who parties but also works hard. Amidst all this, he is low key making big money moves. He doesn’t miss out on flaunting his achievements in the industry, but claims he has managed to stay humble.

3. Kanye West Ft. The Weeknd and Lil Baby – Hurricane

Whereas the stand out track for many off Kanye West’s 10th studio album DONDA was ‘No Child Left Behind’, the stand out track on my end was that mid-tempo The Weeknd – Lil Baby feature ‘Hurricane’ on which Ye chocks listeners with confessions, deep pleas for mercy, acceptance and a lot of faith; not only this jam but all throughout the LP.

2. Adekunle Gold x Davido – High

Following the success of his June 2021 record ‘Sinner’, and ‘It Is What It Is’, AG Baby Adekunle Gold has teamed up with DMW bossman Davido on his latest single ‘HIGH”. “HIGH” is an infectious Afro-Pop, Amapiano tune produced by Pheelz (Mr producer, Riiiii). Adekunle Gold and Davido outdid this…. One to Update your playlist with!!!!

  1. 1. Johnny Drille – My Kind of Brown

The song that serves as the opening track on JD’s debut album ‘When We Fall Asleep’ touches the theme of self-love, the track focussing on admonishing a love interest about embracing who she is and putting aside her insecurities “you’re so much more, you’ve been hiding in your shell for way too long..you would never know if you don’t love yourself ”. Johhny on the track implyies that his love interest is his kind of person but she has to work on herself by loving herself so she can see herself in the light that I see her.
