Meet Boy Spyce – Mavin Records’ Latest Signee.

Date:

Mavin Holdings’ Head Honcho Don Jazzy yesterday activated a new signing to his record label;- Mavins Records known by stage name Boy Spyce.

Born Ugbekile David Osameke in Lagos Nigeria Boy Spyce is a mix of a wise old spirit in the body of a 20-year-old and an unapologetic self-aware young lad.

Spyce was first introduced to music through his older brother who he closely watched come up with melodies, putting words together in a song, going to the studio and seeing him rehearse with his other band members at the time and this heavily fascinated Spyce and inspired him to start writing songs, thanks to the tutoring by his big brother.

His signing to Mavins Records was a long time coming; or like they say, all signs were pointing him to the premium Nigerian record label.

To start with, while he was still a student at Lagos State Model College, some of his classmates told a teacher about his talent after watching him sing to himself a number of times; the teacher went on to encourage him to perform at the school’s social gathering where he performed Mavin Record’s 2012 hit song ‘Dorobucci’.

Boy Spyce has over the years become an internet sensation thanks to his unmistakably unique voice and reflective voice and making covers to popular tracks like Essence by Wizkid & Tems, among others, which has enabled him grow and convert his following into fans.

Upon his signing to Mavins, Spyce has today served up a maiden self-titled EP;- Boy Spyce. The 5 track exotic body of work was produced by Johnny Drille, Skoolbeats, Aykbeats, Kezzi, Presto and Andre Vibez.

The “Weather For Two” singer’s biggest goal as an artist is to make songs for every emotion a person could possibly feel and wants his songs to be a soothing balm at every point in time for everyone who comes across his music, and I do feel that with this extended play he does just that;- especially on the opening track ‘Dreams” on which he croons about how he has always dreamt of being a star, and his wildest dreams coming true now that he’s signed to Mavins.

Carrying only mellifluous sizzling songs, I do relate Boy Spyce the EP to Dreventy’s Blue Detail EP; largely because they both have Blue Artwork, both consist of 5 tracks, both projects are by fast-rising talented young talented artists.

Do stream Boy Spyce’s Extended Play below and let me what you think of it, for on my end, I’m sold. It’s a 10/10 project. What do you think?
