Around this time, a year ago this week, the moody beige-pop superstar Khalid released “Talk,” a single that was produced by music making pop group “Disclosure”. Musically, the results were decent: a slight change of pace for both parties; eventually earning them a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. The song was also featured on Khalid’s second album Free Spirit. Well, 2020 is proving to have the elements of a swell year when it comes to music and good releases and what better way than for Khalid opening his account for the year with a follow up tune to his recent release “Eleven” which he dropped on the 9th of January and then just yesterday but one, because of his continuous habit of releasing infectious tunes, the inevitable came to pass as he once again linked up with Disclosure to bless us with a brand-new single Khalid titles “Know Your Worth”, and it is on record that his smooth vocal efforts were assisted by Disclosure who produced the track and its beats. Know Your Worth was released under Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records; the record label to which Khalid is signed.
The track’s big lyrical takeaway for me is: “Find someone who’ll love you at your worst.” In Khalid’s case, that person is not me, but “Know Your Worth” is far closer to the top of his discography than the bottom.
Out of 10, I do give this jam, a 10/10. I mean, it’s just too beautiful. And the fact that it has a tropical house beat is another deal maker for me. The Texas singer does do this blend of pop and RnB Electronic beats justice.
