Embracing the festive spirit, Apple Music is once again launching its Chop Life campaign, now in its third year. This celebration of the season features four exclusive guest playlists curated by Afro-R&B-soul artist Mellissa, Afrobeats singer-songwriter Olivetheboy, Ikorodu-bred star Seyi Vibez, and Afropop singer Nissi. Each artist has carefully chosen their favorite songs to create soundtracks that capture the essence of their festive season.
The term “Chop Life,” widely embraced across the African continent, translates to “enjoy life and celebrate it to the fullest.” In line with this philosophy, Apple Music’s dedicated Chop Lifespace aims to celebrate great music and the spirit of enjoyment, featuring a flagship playlist, bespoke artwork, DJ Mixes, and thoughtfully curated content suitable for various occasions—whether it’s a cozy day at home, a beach outing, a lively party, or a moment of relaxation.
Mellissa shares her perspective on the playlist she curated, stating, “I’m living in an era where anything is possible, where music from all corners of the world can thrive – and I’m living proof of it. I put together this playlist for the baddies out there, a soundtrack for a sexy, blissful holiday because, to me, Chop Life means having the best experiences.”
“Godsin” crooner Olivetheboy encourages listeners to dance away their worries, saying, “In a year full of work and stress, let’s dance, forget our worries, and embrace the joy of every moment.”
For Seyi Vibez, the essence of life lies in the company of loved ones. He shares, “Life to me is about the people you have in it, people who sincerely love and want the best out of life for you. These songs make me feel good and want to have a great time. So, chopping life to me is a fun time with my family and friends.”
Nissi expresses excitement about the collaboration with Apple Music for the Chop Life campaign, describing Chop Life as savoring the best of what life serves up. She emphasizes the playlist’s versatility, designed to accompany the ups and downs of the season, stating, “Whether you’re chilling, feeling nostalgic, or you want to get up and dance, this playlist is for you. Give it a listen, find your groove, and let’s all Chop Life together!”
