With its arrival being a couple of days away, Ugandan-born and bred and currently, Netherlands-based singer songwriter and actor Maurice Kirya continues to prepare fans for the arrival of his much anticipated sixth studio album;- ‘The Road To Kirya’ with monthly single releases.

He on the 25th March dropped ”Entebbe”; which serves as a lead single to the LP, whose release date is set for 6th May 2022.

The latest in this set of releases is ‘Sejjiga’; a track that was heavily inspired by the pandemic. In the local dialect, ‘Senyiga’ means ‘flu, a cold, or influenza’ but when one has this flu, their pronunciation of words changes slightly because of this nasal congestion.

The “Never Been Loved” singer furthers that he was first inspired to write the song in 2010, but only got to write the song during the 2020 Covid Pandemic, hence the symbolic track artwork of a face mask.

“For years the idea of the song hovered over my head, and it just was never ready to be written, but it has always been with me as has been the case with some of my other songs in the past such as ”Mulembe Gwa Kirya” says Kirya.

On ‘Sejjiga’, Kirya sings of a night so perfect, a morning of confusion, and a burning longing that needs to be tamed as he infuses his Mwooyo & Jazz style of music to create a soothing track.

The song was penned, composed, produced, and arranged by Maurice Kirya, recorded in The Netherlands, at Didam studios, with sound engineer and recordist Rick Dorsthorst, Simone Cesarini on guitar, Willem Van De Krabben on drums and percussions, Julian Bohn on Piano & Hammond, Xander on bass; and just like  ”Entebbe”, ”Sejjiga” too was first performed live at The Peace One day event by the singer.

”THE ROAD TO KIRYA” arrives in all major digital music streaming and downloading platforms on MAY 6th, 2022. As you wait on it, be sure to look out for his past five albums;- “Beyond Myself”, “Free Dreams”, “Mwooyo”, “The Book Of Kirya” and “Missubbaawa”.
