Ugandan multi-genre talent King Kush recently dished out an infectious debut single titled ”Lighter”. You could ask yourself who is King Kush; well- read on.

The roots of Kush’s music date back to his schooling days when he sang on school stages, and then later took the hustle to the streets of Kampala, then live band performances. He then set out to put his Reggae, Dancehall, RnB, and soul music gifts to the world with the release of his very first single as one of his exploits.

This follows his signing to Los Angeles, Florida and New York-based Loveworks Music Publishing Group (LMPG) that now has established operations in Kampala, Uganda (LMPG Uganda International).

According to Kush, ‘Lighter’ was written as a response to what he and those around him were experiencing; for it was inspired by Love. It illustrates the relationship between two parties metaphorically through the relationship between the herb and the lighter. Basically, it is a two-way street, where one requires the other.

The track fuses dancehall with Electronic Dance Music production. Its production was by Major 1 Zhoosx, and then mixed and mastered by Auto Notch.

While in an interview, King Kush revealed that his lifelong dream has been to see a Uganda where all music genres are considered equal and the rebirth of proper music awards, as well as the passage of the copyright law, as many musicians have lost out on the fruits of their hard work in Uganda.

Among his favorite things to do when he’s not in the studio recording music are art, graphics design, rugby and watching dog shows.

King Kush also said that he was working on his very first full-length music project; containing a variety of music genres and collaborations that will appeal to music lovers everywhere. “Lighter” is out and has set the tone. Find it on all streaming platforms.
