As we mark the last Friday of August; The artists have cooked and served, and it is my job and honor to put you onto the five best new releases of this week; some which could potentially make your weekend. Below is the full list:
5. Ckay – YOU
Basking on the success of his global hits, ‘Love Nwantiti‘ & ‘Emiliana‘, Nigerian singer-songwriter CKay has struck again; this time with a brand new single “You”; as a build-up to his forthcoming debut album, Sad Romance.
4. Rema, Selena Gomez – Calm Down (Remix)
Having first met at the Rave & Roses World Tour, the “Same Old Love” singer and Rema have all week long been teasing a remix to “Calm Down”, taken off the latter’s debut album. Having caught the eye of fellow artists from all over the world including Drake, Chris Brown, Lil Nas X, Offset, Jason Derulo, the latest is Selena Gomez and the result of this link was this:
3. DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, John Legend, Fridayy – GOD DID
It’s been a busy day in hip-hop supremacy and this follows the release of award-winning record producer DJ Khaled’s 13th studio album – GOD DID. The titular track off the 18 song project is getting a lot of steam around, considering the featured acts on it. Various Twitter users have since made memes out of the song while tweeting their stand out bars/ lyrics from the record.
2. Chike – Enough
On his very much-awaited sophomore album The Brother’s Keeper‘, Chike has left no stone unturned has he takes listeners on a journey all through the 16 tracks on there. The LP carries sonic audacious, adventurous, and timeless numbers of wild romance, and loving love; and what it means being a brother; themes of toxic love, freeing oneself from society’s pressure, self-awareness, and betrayal among other themes.
The Afro RnB album is a solid 10/10; for my part, and if it’s a song that stood the most out for this editor, it was “Enough”.
1. Lilian Mbabazi – The One
The Multi-talented Afro Soul Queen is back! Lilian has breathed life into this melodic while making a return after a long musical hiatus. She has infused local and English dialects to produce this fine calming song that would make you want to sip on a glass of wine as you vibe to it. The warm track as written by Sheena Skies and produced by Micheal Fingaz Mugisha is the lead single from her soon-to-be-released EP – The ONE.
