With one album and a string of singles, Elijah Kitaka was welcomed by Premium Record Label Swangz Avenue as its first male signing in a long time last week.
This move comes at a time when Uganda has always questioned why there were no male singers under the musical power house’s belt as it has consistently birthed talent acts on the afro-pop and urban music scene.
Elijah joins the already four existing notable signings; all female that includes; Azawi, Vinka, Winnie Nwagi, and Zafaran.
First got to watch the multi-talented musician, lyricist, records producer and top-notch drummer that is Elijah Kitaka perform at “Roast & Rhyme” in February last year. As the label has previously done, it also looks at creating a global superstar in him.
“There is a bigger plan and vision for Elijah Kitaka at Swangz Avenue and this kicks off this very year.”, read a Press statement.
His unveiling came with the announcement of his maiden single “Nothing” under this particular label joins his expansive catalog that includes “Son of KALOLI” the album.
Industry experts like DJ Aludah described Elijah saying: “I love the art in the video, the instrumentation it’s a sound that Ugandans are beginning to fall in love with.” In his own words, Deejay and Media Personality Selector Jay remarked: “The music is Ugandan, continental, different and it’s definitely going to shock a lot of people.”

Having started playing drums at the tender age of 7 years, Elija Kitaka is a man of diversity when it comes to music and has since performed at high-end events both locally and internationally. He kick-started his career as a percussive drummer and has since performed on stages including Roast & Rhyme in (Kampala), the Angala Festival (Tanzania), VISA4Music (Morocco), and Amani Studio Festival (Goma), DRC alongside musicians Maurice Kirya, Kaz Kasozi & LimitX. Joining Swangz Avenue, Elijah dropped a self-written track titled “Nothing”. The visuals to it were recorded and chopped by Marvin Musoke. His talent and music reflect not only his rooted humble personality but also his artistic abilities to transcend the expected.
