As the world got together for the Easter week celebrations, Azawi was on the other hand in South Africa in the company of Swangz Boss Benon as they put final touches to her debut album.

In preparation for the album, the singer who was undoubtedly one of the biggest revelation in the music industry last year, cut off her dreads as part of a rebranding exercise leading to the album release.

You and I would all agree, Azawi was one of those artists who had an amazing musical 2021. Majority of her tracks on her 5-track EP ‘LoFIT’ were well received, with many dominating continental countdowns and making it big in the streaming world. For instance, the EP in its opening week was listened to over 50,000 times on platforms Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music and more; not forgetting music videos which have amassed over 3.3Million combined views on YouTube.

The 24-year-old fast rising singer is back at it again, this time with a brand-new project. Her first single off the forthcoming album titled “My Year” is set to drop 7th May 2021.

With this LP, the record label seeks to put the artist at an African level and enjoy audiences with the likes of Simi, Tiwa Savage, and Sho Madjozi as its major focus is to tap into a bigger audience and not just Uganda.

Album title, among other details are yet to be released publicly but we expect Swangz release that too soon. Pre-save ‘My Year’ here.
