Due to the recent turn of events at Crane Chambers radio station 88.2 Sanyu FM which also happens to be among the oldest stations we do have here in Uganda, there’s been blanks of slots at the station as there was a knifing of the entire former on-air staff in recent misunderstandings which by now you’d be aware of since it’s been quite everywhere.
With the new changes going on, this means there’s been a couple of slots created. To start with, the breakfast show is now hosted by Legendary Man from Ombokolo, Salvador Patrick Idringi, my namesake Roger Mugisha is set to get back in the game after a good 20 years of being a radio presenter in various radio stations, and retiring later in 2015. Well he comes back, but not as a presenter, he’ll be programs director. Other recent recruits include Urban Tv’s Tinah and Kasuku of Spark TV as the two are working as a duo.
The life of every radio station like you and I do know are the presenters, as its these that build bonds with the listeners and create value if any station is to really be the thing. Given Sanyu’s age in the radio business, it of course already has a big listenership. So, this is where opportunity knocks at your door; in case you’ve ever heard dreams of working on radio.
Sanyu FM revealed the vacancy yesterday early morning on their official Twitter handle:
All one has to do is simple:
- Record a 40 second video clip talking about themselves, their interest, and give a reason why they deserve to be the next Radio STAR. Having finished demo, you are required to WhatsApp it to 0752711611. The top 10 finalists are to be up, awarded prizes and the number one contender could secure themselves a radio presenting gig at the station.
As am writing this article, I am listening to music on shuffle and guess what’s playing? Migos and Lil Uzi Vert’s 2017 smash hit chart topping single ‘Bad and Boujee’. The first time I heard this song was one evening while I was tuned in to Sanyu FM as I headed to the nearby town to purchase, I’ve forgotten what. All I remember was that it was played on Shalom Kalule’s show that was on at that time.
Well, there’s been no deadline for submission of the video clips however I’d advise that the earlier the better. Best of luck y’all. And in case you wish to hear the steps on what to do, watch this:
