On the 24th of October, 2019 (last year), we witnessed TECNO Mobile Uganda partner with Uganda’s leading telecommunications company; MTN Uganda in a colorful event at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. The partnership saw the two big brands collaborate and come together in many ways so as to serve their customers better. Considering that TECNO commands a big market span having over 30.33% of the total Ugandan population consuming their products, we also take into account that MTN has been around for twenty years plus in Uganda and so its collaboration too comes in handy. It was proceeded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding; the release of the CAMON 12 and SPARK 4 smartphones; and with MTN on board, Customers would be getting free internet data and bonuses from MTN when they purchased selected TECNO models. Furthermore, all customers who purchase Camon 12, Spark 4, Pouvoir3, Pop 2 Plus and F1 would be receiving free 5GB MTN data valid for 30days. This partnership signaled the first of many exciting MTN promotions that customers would be getting on other Tecno devices; just like it has been today.
Yesterday, TECNO Mobile Uganda announced that Something big was coming. Of course, this left many guessing which device/product they’d be premiering:
MTN posted similar but asking the public to guess what they and their partners were up to? This would be a tough one considering the telecom giant has partnered with various cooperations such as Tidal, Afya Pap among others.
Well in; today 26th June, early morning at 10am, TECNO Mobile Uganda has once again reinstated its relationship with MTN through the #Camon15xMTN online launch. The product revelation was through a 43-minute Livestream that was aired on both TECNO Mobile and MTN’s individual Facebook pages. This online product launch was the first-ever online smartphone launch in TECNO Mobile Uganda’s history (since in the normal world, the event would have happened at Sheraton Hotel Kampala, but remember we are in the unprecedented times of COVID-19, so social distancing and therefore big gatherings was halted hence the reason for reaching the decision) which was not only a big breakthrough in the smartphone industry, but also showed that Internet development in Uganda has stepped into a new phase.
The live stream was to include a generous giveaway session for TECNO fans; more so those who were tuned in and answered the questions asked during the Live by celebrated radio personality, emcee, actress, influencer and events host: Miss Deedan Diana who was moderating the session. The #Camon15xMTN online launch was watched by over 8,800 people; who were actively engaging as they asked various questions in the comments section and some hailing the brand; TECNO for its consistency.

Well this may not be a tech blog exactly, but here’s a summary of what I could gather from the Live stream launch concerning the new Camon 15. Without further or due, let’s get into it.
The phone that was to be unveiled today was the TECNO CAMON 15; What exactly the magical functions that make this phone stand out? What are the most highly anticipated features that we were watch out for? Keep reading to find out!
Like the previous TECNO CAMON series, as expected, the New CAMON 15 collection did not disappoint. Staying true to its tradition, the new smartphone carries forward the legacy of supremacy.
Going by the specifications, the TECNO Camon 15 has been said to launching three Camon 15 variants; the Camon 15, Camon 15 Air and Camon 15 Premier — with the Camon 15 coming in colors; Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple and Dark Jade colors. The Camon 15 Air has come in Malachite Blue, Ice Lake Blue and Misty Grey color option whereas the Camon 15 Premier has been delivered in two distinct colors; Ice Jadeite and Opal White.
With improvements from its predecessor, the TECNO Camon 15 is said to come with a bigger battery, better camera setup, and lots more. Here’s a summary of the device’s specifications:
The Camon 15 comes upgraded with camera, display, performance, among others. The camera, which can easily be considered to be the best in the smartphone market comes with a 48MP AI Quad camera set-up at the back to give customers more appealing and professional photos. Camon 15 has taken the unprecedented step to start its artificial intelligence vision optimization solution to bring to its consumers truly ultra-clear night shots. The Ultra Night Lens makes better edge correction and multi-frame noise reduction, producing more pure and clear night shot. Reduce over exposure to restore true night scene in all directions, improve the image brightness and dynamic range at the same time, shooting brighter photos in dark environments.
In addition to the 6.6-Inch display with an all glass front, plastic back, plastic frame build, all the three version of the newly outed CAMON 15 series run on Android 10 with Tecno’s HIOS v6.0 skin topped to the operating system. It is powered by Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and a Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is expandable with a dedicated microSD card. The dual-sim phone is backed on a non-removable Li-Po 5,000mAh battery.
And in Imaging and optics: the Camon 15 comes with a quad rear camera with 48MP+2MP+2MP+QVGA sensors and a 16MP front facing camera. Both cameras shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The rear camera is supported with Quad-LED flash and front-facing camera is supported by Dual-LED flash for low lighting setting.
Talking communications; the smartphone set is to use Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v5.0, 3.5mm standard earphone jack, and microUSB v2.0.
