Having held a record for the longest-running Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, and Top 40 hit in the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100, The Weeknd’s blockbuster hit single ‘Blinding Lights’ has been the chart’s longest-running song ever; up until yesterday.

Its unprecedented staying power may have once seemed insurmountable, but this week English Rock Band Glass Animals shattered the record with their scorching hit, ‘Heat Waves.’

The latest update of the Billboard Hot 100 reveals ‘Heat Waves’ has landed its spot at position #21 in its 91st week of being listed on the tally; nudging ‘Blinding Lights’ out of the top spot of “longest-running Hot 100 hits ever.

‘Heat’ was previously printed in history books for the steadiest climb to No. 1 when it first peaked atop in its 59th week back then in March 2022.
